Restedgal-CPAP/APAP Experiment Last Night

Post by Sleepless on LI » Fri Aug 12, 2005 5:39 am

Good morning, RG. I did the experiment we talked about with now setting the machine back on APAP with the same low and high number settings to see if my results would resemble straight CPAP. To save some time, I posted in reply to DSM this AM and told him what happened. This is a paste and copy. I was very surprised:

I did the auto test last night but unfortunately either made a mistake and put 10/11 or my machine won't allow the same numbers because I came up with data under 11, too, this morning. I got more or less the same results as straight CPAP the night before. Two nights ago on CPAP, my AHI was 0.1. This morning, it was 0.27. Not bad either way. Both nights, zero hypops and zero snoring index. The weird thing was, my apnea happened under the 11 cms. setting, nothing at 10. Figure that out...

So I think, at least in my case, turning off the CFlex definitely changed and lowered my AHI and, for some unexplained reason, my snoring index is now zero, either APAP or CPAP, as is my HI. Good news to me no matter how I spin it. I'm happy .

BTW, the DYI night guard was a bust. I don't know if I made it right, but it made my mouth continually water. Never fell asleep before removing it. Also, the two nights in a row with Tegaderm, I must have a lot of saliva as it spring a leak at 5 AM in the same side and it was wet underneath. Of course you can't fall back asleep after that. And with these ridiculous bursts of air I'm getting out of my mouth since being on nasal pillows that occur about every 45 seconds to a minute, it keeps making this huge whistle out of the patch's leaking area. So I'm up early wearing the patches, but my leak rate is at 32 with no large leaks. Derek said 30-40 is good for my equipment, so that's better than before. Now if I could figure out how to keep the patch from opening up, I'd be set. I really don't mind taping, but the leaks are a pain.

Have a nice day.
