machine interferes with my nighttime radio listening

thanks all for the advice - yes it is AM radio I want to continue listening to overnight. I'm going to radio shack and give the $2.99 snap choke core a shot first and move on up from there if I have to. My house is a spec house so who knows how it was really wired. Bringing someone in to check all othe electrical stuff is on the summer home maintenance plan (along with a whole house generator after the 9 days without power we had back in December)

It must just be the AM signal that is the problem. I have even dug out my old battery operated transistor radio. You young people won't remember what those are But even the battery operated radio has noise in it. Maybe the metal box would work. Good luck!

It's a clock radio about 4 years old and I have it on the nightstand with my machine, but I have another outlet I can use nearby which I tried. I think I'm going to get this thing from ccrane.com and give it a shot

I just tried my Panasonic RF-2400 portable radio, running on battery power, and the only time I get any audible interference is on the AM band when the radio is right next to (within 50mm) my S8 flow generator.

This not the exact problem as we have a Nov. 2011 Respironics CPAP System one DS250 WITH RF MODEM (Cell-frequency band) which from the git-go has interfered with our TV reception (Outside antennas about 20 feet away) and even my Ham equipment and my police scanner, both on an outside antenna. - Similar problem with in-bedroom FM Receiver about 6' away. Unplugging the CPAP eliminates it.

I have established that the digital signal is centered at 907 MHz with a sideband image or spur at 907.125 MHz

The modulation being digital, it does generate a spectrum signature that interferes with proximate audio systems, as do cell phones of course. You have heard the characteristic "chip-chip-buzz-chip-chip...." type digital train while some moderator/reporter/cameraman is on the TV or Radio, and now you lnow what causes that, at least.

Unfortunately, the digital/cell/smart-phone explosion has overwhelmed FCC part 15 constraints in ex-lab use and we are getting more of what is called "RF Pollution, exacerbated by Digital transmissions that surround us - from remote power and water readings via cell tower links to medical and convenience electronics.

A quick way to tell if it's an a/c line problem or if the noise is being picked up via the radio's antenna (an RF problem) is to place a battery operated radio in the same position as your plug in radio. If the battery powered radio picks up the interference, it's an RF problem (my my guess is that it's both), and probably the only solution is to move the radio further away from the CPAP.

I have a worse issue, because I sleep on a heated waterbed. About a month or two before going on CPAP, I had to get a new heating pad for it, which came with a new, improved electronic thermostat which generates a ton of noise, both RF and through the power line (neither in-line filters, or snap on chokes did anything for it). The CPAP just added to to the noise. My only recourse was to use a battery powered radio, placed down by my hip on the bed, away from the thermostat, CPAP machine, and Climateline hose. I use ear buds, so between that and the hose, it can become a real tangle.

No interference with satellite radio.

FCC laws prevent devices from releasing RF interference, but usually devices must be able to accept it. Your radio is, but why? Seems your cpap is, but this would be against the law.

Read the electromagnetic interference statement which should be in your manual someplace, else request it from the mfr. Seems there is something wrong with your machine.
