Apria billing and collecting will be coming from India soon
In order to save on insurance premiums and to save on paying regular wages, Apria is going to be shifting all billing and collecting overseas to India.
Contact Apria headquarters in Redmond, California if you'd like to verify. Although, they are keeping it hush, hush for the moment, so don't expect an honest answer.
Thousands of Apria employees across the country lost their jobs today, all for the sake of saving a dollar.
It won't be soon, until customer service winds up there as well.

Re: Apria billing and collecting will be coming from India soon
Howdy,
I'm confused. Apria is the poster child for treating CPAP users like commodities. Why should their employees be surprised when they are next in line behind the patient they've "served" to be treated the same way? Didn't they have a direct hand in creating the trap that they've fallen into? I am more sorry for the people they've plundered than for their billing department. Unfortunately, I think there is enough bureaucracy coming to allow those billers to land on their feet.
CPAP.com has employees who worked for Apria in the past. I'm proud of each one. They learned what business as usual with Apria was and decided to change companies. They wanted to work in a place where management really does want them to make a difference for the good in people's treatment. They were also humble enough to "learn again" and shed habits poorly learned when common sense dictated they do.

Apria to eliminate 90 local jobs

California-based Apria Healthcare will eliminate 90 jobs at its Machesney Park billing office over the next 12 months to combat federal cuts in Medicare reimbursement rates.
Apria officials notified workers Tuesday that it was consolidating the billing for its respiratory and home medical equipment businesses to centers in Phoenix, Kansas City, Kan., and Jackson, Tenn. Apria staffers provide supplemental oxygen, ventilators, nebulizers and sleep monitoring equipment to patients with emphysema, sleep apnea and other chronic breathing conditions.
Seven billing centers nationwide are being affected, Apria Executive Vice President Lisa Getson said.
Apria is a $2 billion home health-care provider with more than 500 locations nationwide. About one-third of its revenue comes from the Medicare program, and Getson said the cuts in January in respiratory care are the most severe in 20 years.
“Oxygen therapy took a 27 percent reduction in reimbursement compared to 2008,” Getson said. “That’s a severe reduction for all companies that provide respiratory care, and we had to reduce our nonpatient care costs while continuing to provide direct patient care services, such as in-home delivery, clinical visits and 24/7 on-call services through our branch network. Billing is something that can be done anywhere.”
Even after the 90 jobs are relocated, Apria still will have a significant presence in the Rock River Valley. It has 71 workers at the Machesney Park billing office, 4055 Steele Drive, doing billing for the company’s home infusion therapy division — where nurses administer intravenous or injectable therapies at home or in outpatient clinics. It also has 23 workers at another Machesney Park building, 10910 N. Second St., who provide direct care to area residents.
Getson said the company, which is privately owned by the Blackstone Group, is doing a number of things to help workers in the transition. She said the company hired a career counseling company to help workers with resumes or in the job search, is making workers aware of openings at other Apria locations and relocation assistance if they choose to move, and is offering retention bonuses to workers who choose to stay until their positions are eliminated.
“Our Machesney Park office has always done very well for us, and they’ve been very professional in taking the news,” Getson said. “The centers we chose to keep already are larger and are easier to expand from a real estate standpoint.”
Apria Healthcare was created in 1995 by the merger of Abbey Home Healthcare and Homedco, national companies that both had local operations. The North Second Street building was expanded in 2002 for more than $2 million. Getson said Apria will continue to use the Steele Drive office building for at least another year.

Each of the ninety jobs will be performed in India by Indians ... at 40% of payscale ..... within six months.
Why doesn't Lisa Getson come clean and admit that ninety local families will lose their paychecks, lose their healthcare (COBRA is temporary), and join the long, long unemployment line ... to facilitate the bottom line of a morally bankrupt corporate entity:
Apria ... which merged with Corum ... which was bought by Blackstone ... the multi-national Hedgefund (they hedge their downside by firing Americans)

All the big banks do it that way ...
Cool ... maybe we'll get to bail out the health industry when they get too big to fail ... errr, I mean after they fail ... aww what the heck, what's one more industry.

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

It' true who knows if any expanision of the billing centers remaining will even be done. Considering that all billing/collections are being outsourced to India! The company is already trying to sign up current employees to go to India and train the individuals that will have our jobs!!!

I used to travel to India on business and loved it. I want to go back on an extended vacation.Apria Is Demoralized wrote: It' true who knows if any expanision of the billing centers remaining will even be done. A temporary assignment in India is a wonderful experience and can be a big help on your resume. By all means, take Apria up on the offer and learn all you can about India before you leave and while you are there.
When you come back you can go to work for a different company or maybe Apria makes you a good offer coordinating things with their Indian operation.
It is great to learn another culture first hand!
BTW, go to some cockfights while you are there. They are very popular and legal.

Re: Apria billing and collecting will be coming from India soon
I have been with Apria for a couple of years. I really enjoy what I do. But...I hate waking up every morning knowing that I am stuck in my job. They froze our salaries, sold a few thousand jobs to India, are changing our job descriptions, expect us to be at 150% workload productivity at 90% pay, and the room for career advancement....haven't seen anyone promoted in months. So many people lost their jobs. Hard working people. When Blackstone bought us out, we knew this was going to happen, but we were assured that this was no big change...just going from public to private (no big deal)...what a load of crap. You all get called into a room and are told...by the way, they are laying off 1/3 of the company...we know we said it wouldn't affect you, but...they changed their minds. Billing center reps were told that Intellinet...the company in India that our jobs were sold to...98% have college degrees...like that should make these people feel better. Come on now...
They were told me the top exec's secretary (or whoever she was) that they should feel honored that a VP came to their location to break the news. Who cares if it is Superman, Roger Rabbit or Brad Pitt. These people lost their jobs! This company sucks every bit of energy they can out of you and then tell you to shove off. The pay...I wouldn't know, haven't had a pay increase in well over a year. Respect...yeah, ok...what is the definition again? Job security...I answered that one already. Work/life balance...it needs to be done or else...so you work OT just to stay within goal. But then OT is limited at the same time. One day you have to work it, the next day there isn't any available. Growth...that is a joke. Co-worker competence. I guess it all depends on who is sitting next to you on this one. Work environment...breaks are there if you can manage to take them. Bathrooms...it's like you need a requisition form to get soap/paper towel or toilet paper. The smokers even have to clean out their own cigarette receptacles. I don't think the bathrooms or the vents have been cleaned in a year. There is dust, etc. all over the walls and floors. You can barely tell the vents are vents. They look more like dust mops. There is agaping hole in the ceiling in the bathroom from water damage...we have a bucket to catch any leaks. But we do have new carpet. Yeah us!

I guess it is time to find another DME because I will be dammed if I am gonna talk to someone from India who is trained to talk to me like I was a child. I live in the U.S.A. and I intend to use DME in the states. Apria sucked to begin with, now they really suck. Remember, you get what you pay for and what they pay these other countries is nothing so nothing from nothing means nothing. Thought you had a hard time getting things through Apria, wait till India takes over.....

Perhaps this will result in a big patient backlash, and Apria will go under. It is time that companies pay for poor business preactices through 'economic punishment'.
