Question for Johnny on Activa

Post by rock and roll » Wed Aug 10, 2005 11:29 am

In your interaction with Resmed, have you ever aksed them if they plan to do a full face mask Activa and if so when? This would be such a hot interface!

Howdy,

I'm sorry, but I can't comment on that topic currently.

We post news as soon as we can to cpaptalk as well as to our CPAP newsletters.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Johnny

An interesting non-commital answer worthy of a politician. Notice he didn't say no?

Bill,

I think your political instincts are correct. That fact that the answer was "I can't say" rather than "I don't know" is very encouraging for those hoping for an Activa FF.

Sincerely,

A few months ago someone posted on another board that they had called ResMed to ask if there were plans for an Activa full face mask. The answer was "Yes, working on it now." The person asked when it would come out and was told the first of the year (which would be 2006.) Hearsay, of course.

Once the Swift got so well established, I'd guess ResMed was finally able to turn its attention to a FF Activa. ResMed probably saw a much bigger market for a nasal pillows interface (the Swift) so concentrated on that first. Now it's the Activa's turn! Who knows...they may already be trialing a prototype!

Yes, I love the political answer, as I assume it's a yes but don't you just love the hush-hush like it's part of the space shuttle

What a no brainer, they will sell a ton of them if they do it right. I volunteer to test it

Why did you use "space shuttle" in this context?

Guest because having OSA is not conducive to getting a promotion.

Because government projects like this are always so hush hush and top secret.

Also they are so slow to develope items.
