I've discovered I can lower the ironing board to sitting height, put it in front of my couch, sit on the edge, and iron while watching TV, without killing my back.
Yeah, I know. I should post this on Sewing Academy. I think I did. A year ago.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

I guess it would take my girls to to say how they not only survived but thrived under my parenting, but they did. Never mind the time I went merrily into my afternoon after church one Sunday oblivious to a nursery worker not-so-patiently waiting ... and waiting... for the last kid to be picked up. Or how in the days before seat belt laws protected others from fools, I was once known to haul 13 in my powder blue Pinto. Not to mention my older daughter was probably the only kid in her high school without a curfew (I would have imposed one had she needed it).
But one "gift" I gave them that they seem to have kept for their own families is the ability to put living life over doing chores, and to place more value on things we do together rather than the cost of our things. Just please don't tell my daughters that my choices to keep buying more clothes instead of taking time to do laundry, or to spend the day at the pool and leave the dishes in the sink another day, or letting the back yard "go natural" (until it started breeding field mice), really had little to do with a life philosophy. But my story (and I'm sticking to it) is that it was all a mother's sacrifice for her daughters.

Kathy, I support you buying more clothes instead of doing laundry.
When I was in the last years of my 12 year long BA, I was working 40 hours a week during the day, taking 18 credit hours at night, working on a double-major, had two part time jobs on Saturday, and was involved in every extra curricular club and program my tiny start-up college offered.
I would pass my friend "E" in the hallway and ask "How much underwear did you buy this week?" It was far easier to zip in to Target and buy another pack of underpants than to do laundry for us poor renters who had to haul laundry to a laundramat or laundry room.
Oh how rich I am now. I have my own washer and dryer in my little ghetto duplex. I can put laundry in to wash, go to bed, and sleep safe and sound, in the knowledge that my panties will still be there in the morning, not stolen by the building pervert.
LOL,
Babs

That was before I became a reenactor. Civvy underpants. Not 19thC drawers. You can't buy those in the 6 pack from Target.

Babette:
What a fun thread - even if it did bring back a few things I thought I had forgotten and burried long ago. Great idea.
