Thanks, RG, for the feedback.
By "blowfish" I meant to describe how during the nite, I sometimes use my lips to make some puffs of air.
I s'pose I might just try using that roll of blue painter's tape that's in the utility room...

I can see mouthleaks in my software - I can identify them because they wake me. Their rate never exceeds the machine's maximum leak rate at any pressure - as a matter of fact, they are always lower. On the other hand, when the mask is moved, the leak rate zooms up beyond the maximum. Based on this info from my machine, I would not rely on the leak alarm on most cpap machines to inform my of mouthleaks.

I think it's possible that SV machines have a more sensitive leak alarm.

Ozij,

All the alarms on my ASV are turned off... because my first night, every time I started to drop off to sleep, one alarm or the other went off! And if I managed to get to sleep, something else went off!

I called the RT and pointed out that since the object was for me to not be jolted awake by adrenalin surges all night, it night be worth turning the alarms off...

Thank you for confirming that, Kira, that was what I remembered of SV's.

And here I thought I was going crazy trying to get a mask to seal. Now after reading the posts here, I find out I'm just crazy (what a relief) and sleep apnea has just added a new twist. I'm not new to the sleep apnea diagnosis (first diagnosed in 1987), but I am a newbie when it comes to equipment. I'm using a Series M BipapAuto Bi-Flex unit (pressure is set at 9 and will be reset to 10 soon) w/humidifier and a Mirage Liberty mask. I was surprised the mask lets me sleep on my side with virtually no leaks. The leaking starts around the seal when I evidently am on my back and my jaw relaxes and drops down slightly and back quite a bit. It seems that no matter what sort of mask I use, the lower part of it won't keep a seal once that jaw release happens. I tried nasal pillows w/chin strap and multiple velcro straps to keep it in place (I looked like someone's idea of a present wrapped in duct tape) to no avail. Suggestions?
