My brain just recovered enough to realize that I have a SPL meter at home so I could measure how loud my 420E with humidifier actually is.
I can't do anything to verify consistency across machines though unless there is someone else within reasonable driving range to me.
P.S. Each day it feels as if portions of my brain are "turning on" again. Memory, focus, logic ability all improving dramatically from one day to the next at this stage. Looking back I realize I was exhibiting ADD-like symptoms that are also fading rapidly.

Judy,
Fisher & Paykel is the company releasing a cpap that has an integrated heated hose. Maybe this what you are refering to?

Thanks.
You would think that all of the companies would get on the heated hose band wagon. I will have to order one from Australia.
Thanks again,
Judy

Bill,
A-Men!
You are no alone in coming to this conclusion. I had hoped that this would be the result & into my 5 th week am utterly convinced of it.

Does anyone here know which Aussie heated hose I should order.
The guy e-mailed me and said I require a SZ2 which is a standard length 6 foot WITHOUT internas sensor tube. Then when I was looking down the page, it said SZ4.
I have a ResMed Auto Respond machine with an Activa mask.
Thanks,
Judy

Judy, I'd just tell the guy what machine you have and let him send the hose without your having to worry about product #.
Your machine doesn't need an extra sensor tube. Puritan Bennett makes the machines that require a sensor tube running down through the main air hose.
As soon as the sleepzone.com.au people see that your machine is a Respironics brand, they'll know you don't need a hose with an extra sensor line inside it.
I recall one poster writing that they sent him the wrong hose - they sent the hose with extra sensor tube, which his Respironics machine didn't need. He just plugged the loose ends of the sensor tube and did fine. Might not be such a bad thing. After all, if he ever were to buy a PB 420E in the future, he's already set to go. Just pull the plugs!

Hey RG,
Thanks. I e-mailed him back and explained his and my e-mails and he e-mailed me back and said that I was right and that it is SZ4 not SZ2. So I immediately ordered one and can't wait until I get it.
I still cannot believe that the companies here have not caught on to this and started making them for our machines. What's that saying, "A day late and a Dollar short"! Oh well, their loss and Australia's gain.
Thanks again for your advice. You are a wealth of information and an important member of this forum that I and many others appreciate so much.

Thanks to a pointer by Sir_Cumference, we have a picture of the S8 with its better designed h/h. Seems they realised their mistakes in the 2i design (difficult to fill, inadequate temp control). My supplier also says he just took delivery of the new h/h.
I like this unit. It will become my travel xPAP - I will do a write up on it in a month or so.
Cheers

But the S8 WITH Humidifier claims to be only 8.4 inches long, which is still shorter by an inch of so than a bare bones Remstar. And shorter than the 420E with humidifier.
If only the Auto version was already out and its algorithms debugged, it is likely I would have gone with the S8 instead of the 420E, although I think either rig would be good for travel.

How many gallons does it hold??? ...cause I only want to fill it once a month when the DME delivers my distilled water.

(S8 cpap) 5.7" + (H3i) 8.3" = 14" total
The PB with the H2O HH is listed as 11" long
The REMstar is 13.25"
...Looks to me like the ResMed is the longest by .75"
