"Deltadave" and "-SWS." Hmmm. There's something rather yin and yang in that, seems to me.

I can't imagine RG, wulfman, Hawthorne, SAG, dsm, Goofproof, SWS, gumbyCT, and all the others ever going through the newbie stage. It would be interesting to me to read some of their first questions and replys.
I'm pretty sure that RG and these other notables set their auto machines on the nightstands the first night they got them, strapped on their masks after a 10 minute inspection at which time they added their own personal mods, and laid down for a quick 8 hour rest of 0.0 leaks and 0.1 AHI's...

AND I WON'T LISTEN TO ANYONE THAT CLAIMS OTHERWISE!!!!

I didn't have an Auto.......

But, otherwise, that's pretty close to the way it happened.

Now that you mention it, that's pretty cool, isn't it!

Certainly I had troubles or I wouldn't have found this forum. I did lurk for many months searching for info and finding different forums. Guess I liked something about cpaptalk cuz it is the only one I ever joined.

Oddly enuff my 1st post was Intro from Gumby

You can see I was greeted by the best which makes it quite memorable to look back on. This was before it was fashionable to create "My Very Own Perpetual Blog"

I had tons of problems before I decided to post but chose to search and find soultions already posted. I was using an FP Flexifit 431 FFM so had lots of leak problems and could NOT keep the mask on all nite for weeks. The key for me was determination and knowing if it was to be - it was up to me.

Once I found RG's panties - helped my leaks, I was here to stay

I'm having such a good time with this. DSM, you sounded just like every other newbie, what a surprise! Did you ever teach yourself to sleep with your mouth closed, did you ever get a 10ft hose? All those questions! GumbyCT, you certainly had the cream of the crop out in full force from Day 1. You were destined for success.

Finally found my first post ever on any sleep apnea board --

Posted by rested gal on March 03, 2004 at 10:18:13:
http://www.sleepnet.com/apnea119/messages/136.html

tomjax on this board is the tomjax who responded there, too. It was so nice to receive Tom's encouragement ...and his caution. That really was a VERY heavily censored board, thus my followup post where I threw in something about "doctor monitoring"... LOL!! The only one I actually turned to for any "monitoring" and tweaking advice (via the software I bought) back then, was another message board person (-SWS) who became a very good friend over these years.

clubted who also responded, turned out to be the Ted we've come to know here as "Titrator". Small world! Another good friend. He already knew about the better prices at cpap.com which I'd not heard of then.

Later, I posted my story here:

How I got started on cpap:
Jan 25, 2005 subject: not diagnosed yet, many ? brand new here -- my story and Poisson's reply with good reasons why a PSG sleep study is important.
viewtopic.php?p=5977#5977

My eventual sleep study:
Nov 19, 2005 subject: First Sleep Study...finally! - rested gal -- sleepydave on that board is StillAnotherGuest here on cpaptalk. Another good friend! Many thanks to SAG for allowing me to get a real sleep study. Well worth waiting for.

Rested Gal, I found your post fascinating. You were on to something before you even knew what you were on to, amazing! And you even persevered with a mask that didn't fit! Impossible! Someone in one of your first posts recognized your literary skills and said your post should be published in a medical journal(not sure of the exact quote). I was surprised by your first sleep study report with SAG. I could understand most of it even if I hadn't been somewhat educated here. That should be the standard for all sleep studies. I will continue my research with great anticipation. It kind of levels the playing field if you know what I mean.
