I have lots of pictures on my computer but I need "step by step" how to get one of them here as an Avatar. Have tried of and on without success.

For this board, the picture can't be more than 150 pixels by 150 pixels, and the file can't be larger than 150 kilobytes. I believe you can use any picture-editing program to edit a picture to change its size to small enough to be used as an avatar. Then it's just a matter of going to your profile, edit avatar, and submitting.

Thanks jnk!

I'm glad you recognize me!!

This is actually my 23 lb, 10 year old cat Pumpkin, who sleeps on his back just as I do!!

He does snore! Wonder how he'd take to a cpap mask?? Cpap certainly made me stop snoring!

Cropping came a little easier to me than sizing an avatar although it is much the same principle I found out!

I believe that the protocol for cat-PAP can be tricky. Most felines prefer a full-face, but that often requires a whisker trim. Please keep in mind that cats are mostly nocturnal so naturally prefer several little cat-PAP naps during the day rather than all through the night. Be sure the cat-PAP is near the litter box, since the lack of thumbs makes mask removal particularly difficult for them when in a hurry. Oh, and I think I heard that PurSleep is talking to Purina about a 100%-natural tuna scent in a little mini kitty-PAP size. Let us know how it goes!

Ah, the future is looking bright for my "little" Pumpkin! I have made careful "paw print" notes of all those cat-pap tips. He will be especially interested in the PurSleep tuna scent. Like those forum members with moustaches and beards, he will be very reluctant to trim the whiskers. I'll pass all the information on to him when he wakes from his afternoon nap which will be around dinner time!

Sorry you're allergic Thanks again for the help on the Avatar!

I found my avatar on avatarity.com

It wasn't what I was looking to find, but it was so perfect I had to go with it.

Karen,
Who was surprised at the response she has received

P.S. I wouldn't have thought it until I saw an episode of Animal Police, but trimming a cat's whiskers is classified as animal cruelty. It certainly doesn't strike one at first, but on second thought cats do feel through their whiskers and they could easily be harmed if they could not sense the size of an opening for their passage.

So, if anyone recalls the "silly millimeter longer, 101" Benson and Hedges cigarette commercial from back in the day when TV advertised tobacco, we will just have to make adaptations to the cat's cpap masks...whisker friendly ones! (That commercial had a VW Beetle's windshield being fitted with a bump-out bubble to make room for the LONG cigarette.)

I can see it now, Babette's Nasalaire II being adapted for whisker fit...although for the side-sleeping cats, it might be a tad unwieldy.
Be kinder than necessary; everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I'm sure it would be considered cruel to trim a cat's whiskers. My 23 lb boy needs to know how much space he needs to not get stuck somewhere and that is considerably more space than your average cat!

I guess it's nasal pillows for him (like his "mom"). Maybe the cpap Pro no mask or a dental appliance!

Once you find a pic-and you can do a search for "Avatar pics"on a search engine- you can take the pic and upload it to a site like photobucket.com -and resize it. In fact, you can just go there first and then search for avatar pics there- say, "cat pics", and that will bring up lots of those; and then pick one you like and resize it to use. It is free to sign up and to use, and you can keep the pics there on an album, and also save them on your computer in a folder for avatar pics if you want to have ready access.
Feel free to PM me if you have any difficulty and I will do my best to help out!
