ResMed s7 vs s8 - 3 photos

Post by dsm » Mon Aug 08, 2005 5:01 am

Folks,

For anyone interested in a side-by-side photo of an S7 Elite (same size as Spirit) along side the new mini ResMed s8 Escape.

http://www.internetage.com/cpapinfo/res ... index1.htm

Here are 6 photos of the s8 and its data card.

Enjoy

Cheers

DSM

Thank you for those photos, they are really helpful! It just makes you wonder at the size of the spirit!! It now seems so massive, especially with the humidifier on it!

Any idea when an autoset spirit version of the S8 will be coming along?

Oh my goodness what a difference between the two machines.
I am also interested in when the auto one is coming out. I heard that sometime in September but who knows. I am using the ResMed Auto Respond now but I want the newest version of this machine and I want to be able to get the software and find out how I do each night. My doctor said that he would write a script for it.

Wow! The pics really show how small the S8 is when compared to the Spirit!
I will be watching to see when the auto S8 comes out.

LOL

Everyone I show it to says 'Howwww cuuute!' - it is

Loved your description

When I 1st opened the bag it comes in I though hey hey, they forgot to include the bloody machine (scuse us Aussies, we talk like that all the time )

Then I found this sweet lil barbie toy thing hiding in the corner, very shy

- I have loaned one to a friend who will be trying it tonight - I won't get to try for a few days (perhaps this w/e). It seems I may be doing a lot of travel soon & while I had planned on a 420S or E for travel, will now stick with an S8 unless I don't like it. Am not worried about wether it is auto or not - if I want CFLEX & all the extras I'll just come home & sniff on my RemStar AUTO but of late I have stopped using RAMP & CFLEX & am finding I can survive quite well without em plus the machine no longer whines up & down & wife is a lot happier.

Must be getting tough

Cheers

Wow.... wish my ResMed S7 Lightweight would fit right in my hand! LoL! I'd love a smaller machine, but mine gives me good performance, so I'm happy.

check out http://www.resmed.com as there is a picture of the S8 with humidifier on the front page ... gives you some idea of what the complete package will look like.

That looks very nice!. Also, my supplier just emailed me to say he has them in stock now.

So folks, I am betting the S7 line just died - expect some bargains in that dept

Seems like the S8 Escape will be quickly followed by an S8 based Auto - I believe it will be similar to S7 & be a software difference.

Also! The S8 on its own is just a bit noisy compared to other xPAP devices however, with that style of humidifier, I believe the noise will be attenuated enough to make the device very practical.

Maybe Goodnight now has some competition

Just a note, having read the cpap.com info, it seems that the heated part of the humidifiers won't work on 12VDC!! Only working on AC .. this, in my opinion is a bad thing .. and will set sales back as others look at things like the aura.

If you need to use CPAP camping or travelling, then the S8 is ... not as competitive, in my opinion, than other machines. Resmed, need to do a little more work I think.

But as I understand it this applies to most h/h - they nearly all say get an inverter to run the h/h. I think the 420 is the same. The current required by a 12v heater would blow the average (even above average) 12v power pack.

Cheers
