Sounds like somebody needs a little "attitude adjustment" through the Better Business Bureau if they won't honor a warranty.

Snork, I'm having the same issue with my PB 420E - I wake up, the pressure wont' go down and until recently I used to turn the machine off and on - now I'm using the ramp button just to get it back down to the bottom of the range. I think the machines have trouble handling our waking breathing....

Ozij: make sure that your pressure sensor tube (the thin, clear tube that plugs into the small port next to the main air hose) is not kinked in any way. It should not have any tight twists or bends in it that occlude it in any way.

Also, many of us are in REM (dreaming, I would add) when the alarm goes off or something else wakes us up. If you were in REM at the point you wake, your pressure need would be at it's highest and your display would be showing a high number. Remember that the machine does not raise or lower the pressure in large increments, but makes the changes in small increments -this is to make the change less noticeable to the user.

I don't think I wouold be too worried about seeing the pressure high when you wake. What does the software analysis show you? Did you stay at that high pressure all night? Or, were you in and out of high pressures during the course of the night with a period of high pressure just before you woke?

When I look at my data, I am almost always at 10 or 11 when I wake and, on those mornings, I was always right in the middle of a dream when I woke. In some ways, I find this reassuring as it tells me that I am getting some REM sleep -->my sleep studies showed that I was getting none.

It's either ther pressure itself (9, and for me that's high) or - frequently - it's sound that wakes me up, of at least, wakes me up when I have other reasons for not sleeping so well. I've slept throgh periods of straight 9 (according to the software)... but sometimes I wake up. My eyesight is so bad without glasses that I rarely look at the display, I would see the higher pressure in the software on the morning.

I uses to turn the machine off, which causes a break in the report. Now I hit the ramp, turn over, and fall asleep again.


The weirdest thing with my machine is its leak rate.

On my trial mask and machine, my leak rate was 0.1, the day I recieved the new machine and mask, it jumped to 0.4. I thought it was the hose, which had bubles at the cuff connection but it's been like this for two PB hoses, and now the heated one....

I've actually been meaning to ask you about your leak rate with the PB and breeze - though I know that is affected by pressure.

I'll check the thin tube extra carefully tonight...

OK, my leak rate using Breeze fluctuates between 0.4 and 1.0. Mostly, it sits around 0.6

ozij, I looked back at some of my old Silverlining data files when I was using the Breeze/nasal pillows with the 420E. I had put the name of the mask in each filename...separate file saved for each night.

Bear in mind that my lips were taped each time. The machine was set for 8 - 19. IFL1 was off. Pressure stayed almost all the time at the low of 8, ranging occasionally up to 11.

Leak rate stayed down at 0.4 almost all the time the four nights I looked at. There were a few blips that went up to 0.6. 0.7, and one brief period of almost 1.0 one night...tape may have been coming loose or mask dislodged a bit. Whatever it was, I apparently fixed it and the rest of that night was smooth sailing at 0.4 again.
