I know what APAP and CPAP are, and just found out what Bi-level is, but what is XPAP?
Thanks!

Re: What is "x pap"?
xPAP refers to APAP, CPAP, Bi-Level and any of these types of machines... thus the "X".mountainlvr wrote:I know what APAP and CPAP are, and just found out what Bi-level is, but what is XPAP?

Re: What is "x pap"?
Technically CPAP describes all of the machines, but as soon as someone started saying BiPAP to distinguish the Bi-level machines and APAP to distinguish auto-titrating machines from the constant pressure machines, CPAP became associated with constant pressure function. But CPAP actually stands for continuous positive airway pressure, and that describes all of them.
I sometimes use CPAP to refer to all machines, because it is correct. Unfortunately, communication requires both ends to understand it the same way, and I really should not use CPAP to refer to all machines if people are understanding it differently.
