Amy, join me tomorrow in an experiment if you can handle it that early in the morning. I am going to put the theory Sue has to the test and see if she really knows something we don't know. It's very possible she's got something and I have to find out now. I am going to try to ice the lines if I have some time to do it before work. I am a free-lancer who can work a morning assignement or an afternoon, and I won't know till later what job I'm on. But if I have some time in the morning, I am going to ice one cheek and use warm compresses on the other and see what works. Then at least we know what is causing the marks, edema/swelling or if they are truly indentions, and we can go from there.
Talk about lab rats, as RestedGal always calls us when we have to make things work that just don't...
? for SleeplessLI...swift lines

Dear Lori ... it seems that you and masks just weren't meant for each other!
I'm still switching between the breeze and the swift myself and I can't work out which I prefer. I have found out though that over time I can learn not to like any mask LOL There is always something wrong. My Aura hasn't arrived yet, but at least I don't have any hair to worry about losing which seems to be that masks problem for some.
I have thought up one solution for you though ... but you're probably not going to like it .. it's quite simple, just wake up an hour earlier than normal and the Elvis Sideburns will have faded by the time you need to meet anyone that matters ... Told you you wouldn't like it!

You know, that's just what I need to do, is get up earlier to let those "Elvis sideburns" fade. And I'm not kidding. It's very hard to apply makeup over the indents. And what is your take on this, indentation or swelling? I'm curious. We'll see what our experiment turns up.
And don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the mask. The Swift is the best thing that has come my way since this whole thing started. Also, I am setting my APAP for straight CPAP with Cflex now as it reaps great results (after looking at all the results I've been getting from the softwares). Last night, on straight 10 cm, no hypops and three apneas all night (almost 9 hours), no snoring, ZERO, and life is a beatiful thing with a 0.3 AHI. Maybe I can say goodbye soon to all of this equipment. But if not, I'll live with it and won't complain. Hey, I can think of plenty worse, so I'm not complaining.
So you haven't made up your mind yet between the Breeze and Swift? I am curious for your opinion on the Aura, how the headgear feels, leaks, etc. You'll have to keep me posted, please...
Yawn,
Good! Now I have a co-lab rat to do this experiment with. We'll compare notes in the AM. I am not even working tomorrow, either. Is it karma or just good timing???

UPDATE: 8/10/05, 6:03 AM EST
Great news to report, Yawn. My fix last night worked, so I couldn't do the experiment. When I ran to CVS last night to address what everyone is suggesting might be mouth leaks with my leakage report number being higher than it should be, I bought these foam "toe bandages," I believe they're called. They are tubular, three in a pack. I think the two smallest ones may be slightly different in size, but just an iota. They are tubular with no opening and are made of thin foam that you are supposed to cut to size to put on your toe as a bandage so it doesn't get hurt by any of the toes on either side.
Well, I took the straps off the "barrel" last night and slipped one of these babies over the bottom of the straps and slid it up to where it almost reaches to top of the side strap. This morning, I awoke with NOTHING but right above where the bandage stopped. It was barely noticeable. But the "C" mark/swoosh lines were not there at all!!!! I was amazed it worked.
So does that mean swelling or indentation? I still don't know the answer. But I do recommend that as the answer to those nasty lines we have in the morning with the Swift. I just hope it works as well tonight as it did last night.
How did your morning turn out???
