Howdy,
Not at all. I'm sorry if it came across that way to you.

Apology accepted in full RG. Please allow me to explain.

I read these boards daily. Many times people state that they feel abused by uncaring DMEs or Manufacturers. I'm clearly sensitive to this. I do not want to be lumped in with those who are uncaring or unaware of patient needs. I've felt like we been unfairly associated in the past and kept quiet.

When it happened this time, or when I believed it did (as clearly the spirit of your words was not the way I interpreted them), I foolishly allowed pent up frustrations from previous silence to affect the spirit of my post.

With that RG, I accept your apology and offer my own. I hope you can attribute this to my passion for my business and this community.

Howdy,

We have made two changes to the text My Equipment feature.

#1 we remove anything following the word "with".

#2 We truncate the descriptions when they threaten to cause the thread to "move off the page"

Johnny,

Even the most honest used car salesman still get looked at as a used car salesman. The fact that there are evil DMEs out there is all the more reason to keep doing what you are doing. Every time you get frustrated by being lumped in with the DMEs just remind yourself how frustrated they must get every time they see the prices at cpap.com and hear about the good things you all are doing in the cpap community.
Sincerely,
wading thru the muck of the sleep study/DME/Insurance money pit!

Excellent work, Mr. Goodman! I've turned the equipment switches back on and tested in different resolutions and it looks good. Thank you very much.

I'll admit, I never thought of sending warm fuzzies your way... but since you read the boards daily, you are well aware of all the people who constantly say what a lifesaver cpaptalk is and while they don't specifically mention you by name, these accolades are sincere and heartfelt. I haven't seen anyone lump you in the same category as uncaring DMEs or Manufacturers, or begrudge you running a for-profit business. I like to think of cpaptalk as a place for us to come together to discuss treatment without the outside influence of any manufacturers. HOWEVER, if the time ever came where it was apparent your decisions and actions were the result of bowing to them and not in the best interest of the user, then I'm sure you'd hear about it!
The hosting, coding, maintain and employees required to make cpaptalk.com may be behind the scenes to normal users, but they require much effort and money. That money comes out of my pocket to provide this service to you and to all cpaptalk users. Its a service that depends on the viability of cpap.com as well as the willingness and generosity of our staff.
I can't tell if this is your polite way of telling us that cpap.com is experiencing financial difficulties, or if you're having growing pains and need to hire more people! (Hopefully its the latter!) I should think the income from the cpaptalk customers alone, has you witnessing some pretty serious profits----not that there's anything wrong with that!!

Cpaptalk is a godsend. If not for this place I'm sure many people would have given up on their therapy altogether. But here we are, plugging away and sharing ideas on this great forum.... and we don't take that for granted!

Great work, and typical reaction speed, Johnny!

but I couldn't help smiling.

This is what you wrote:

An this is what I copied from your equipment decription on that very same post:
HC150 Heated Humidifier with hose, 2 chambers and stand

nothing wrong with it, it's just that I honor words deeply, and got slightly conf- and am- used....

I'm glad to see that we are all getting along better again. It is so easy to have words on a page misconstrued; this is the true downfall of electronic textual communications. One person says something a certain way, another reads it and applies their own bias and before you know it things spin out of control.

That said, I do like the equipment feature and prefer the words to the pictures if only to make it nicer for bandwidth challenged users (I don't have that problem, but I try to be considerate). Johnny, thanks for fixing things so I can have it as I prefer.

hahaha. So Busted.

We only cut off "with" for machines and software, as those are the two offenders.

It was too long to type though, and I figured I'd escape with the point in hand.

If it becomes a problem, we'll write a more advanced filtering system.

johnnygoodman: This isn't a criticism, just a technical suggestion related not to the width of the signatures, but to their length...

On another SIG forum I visit occasionally, the lengths of some user's signatures started getting outrageous (they contained every modification the user had made to their car). It got especially bad in those threads where a couple of users would carry on 1 or 2 line question & answer conversations with each other. It became very difficult to follow the 'conversation' for all of the intruding signature 'spam'.

Anyway, the forum admins finally found a solution that everyone seems to like. They were able to turn on an option in their forum software so that each user's signature is only shown the first time they post a message on each page of a thread. This way, the reader doesn't see the same information repeated over and over again on the same page. It also had the result of reducing the length of the threads, which encouraged more viewing/reading.

I have no idea if your forum software supports this option, or if it does, if you have any interest in implementing it, but I thought I would mention it.

Oh... one more suggestion... how about adding a "Forum Feedback" section? <grin>

and thank you for providing this wonderfully information-rich service!!!

I find that the generous use of emoticons Somtimes gets the point across since I am prone to the use of sarcasm AND I am originally from New York.. .. More than once I've been Bar-B- cued by a tired , foggy brained fellow hosehead who failed to 'get it' ... LOL .... I'll survive ........

Thanks for all you do for us Johnny .

Well that was quick, I only mentioned the wide threads last night!

Johnny - Thank you very much! I really, really appreciate what you have done. It makes reading the forum much more enjoyable for me and I am sure many others.

P.S. - You guys are so smart, do you know how I can stop all the unsolicited Email's I get promising longer firmer hoses? Six feet is quite enough for me.

Johnny,

Thanks for the fix - I thought it was MY computer! Also, thanks for the posts after the "misunderstanding".

Most of all, thanks for the board and all that you do to help this community. IF I ever need to buy anything, I'll buy it here. Period.
