Oh, sorry. It's a bit ambiguous, actually. It just says that I underwent nasal CPAP titartion, and:
"The following is required:
1. CPAP Unit
- pressure set at 10 cmH20
- Ramp set at 20-30 minutes
2. Nasal Mask or ADAM circuit
- Lab mask used was: Mirage Swift LT
- Mask size was: M
- please size patient and show patient a variety of masks
3. Headgear
4. Other: Heated humidifier advised"
My ADP application just says "CPAP" under the instructions.

You are in Ontario Canada,as I am. If your prescription says cpap, you will not get an auto. There is a whole different criteria, with the ADP, for an auto in Ontario your prescription MUST say auto to get an auto.

...and so your first task should be to call the doc and request the Rx to be changed, Having the Auto (as others have already said) gives you options to change your treatment as you need to. 2 machines in one. Don't accept "no" for an answer.Hawthorne wrote:You are in Ontario Canada,as I am. If your prescription says cpap, you will not get an auto. DeVilbiss IntelliPap Std Plus with Smartflex; Transcend miniCPAP & Everest2 w/humidifier & batt for travel. UltraMirage FFM; PadACheeks; PaPillow. Using straight CPAP at 13.0/passover humidifier. AHI consistently < 1.5. Began CPAP 9/4/08.
Re: One step away from getting equipment..
Phone call has been placed.. Now, I patiently wait!
It's worth mentioning that I had some chest pain last night. Around 2 years ago (not last night), I woke up at 2AM with some EXCRUCIATING stabbing pain in the left side of my chest. I thought for sure I was having a heart attack and my wife rushed me to a emergency station (we're in the country) where the ambulances are dispatched from. They did an EKG on the spot, said everything was normal. The pain completely subsided shortly after it woke me up, and I elected to take it up with my doc in the AM. After listening to my chest & my symptoms, he suspected I'd had a small pneumothorax and sent me for x-rays. They came back 'inconclusive', which he said was normal if it were a small tear that could heal itself.
Last night, I had the sensation twice of painful pressure that built up and was relieved by a small 'popping' sensation. I've gotten them maybe once or twice a year and have always just called them "air bubbles". It's not the stabbing pain I experienced years ago, but it is uncomfortably painful until the pressure 'pops'. I made note of it on my sleep lab report that I filled out at the office this morning. To have it happen twice in a night was not normal.
When I originally told the sleep doc about the possible spontaneous pneumothorax, he immediately started talking about APAP and that we'd have to watch the pressure. After my first lab, he didn't even say anything about APAP and only talked about CPAP. Last night's experience with a straight-out CPAP machine makes me wonder if the constant pressure caused the pain?

Re: One step away from getting equipment..
After the night of my titration I had some chest pain also. Reading the boards, it sounds like it can be fairly common to have chest pain after being pushed to breathe more deeply than normal by the CPAP. I Don't know if that was happening with you, your pain sounds more severe, but it could have been at least part of it. All the muscles and tissues involved get quite a workout in the beginning, and my pressure wasn't as high as yours.
I love my Swift LT, and I sleep almost all of the time on my side. As long as you get a pro model of the Respironics or a Resmed Elite II or AutosetII, I am sure you should be happy with your treatment. I know what you mean about waiting! It took me 4 months of test, wait, order, wait to get my treatment started. I think once you feel the relief of CPAP, it is harder than ever to sleep without.

You can also get a Respironics Auto... either the M series with CFLEX or AFLEX (which also includes CFLEX)
Or the non M series auto which will just have CFLEX
Or the non M series auto which will just have CFLEX
