I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

Babette,
No need to appologise, I actually think the cattle prod would work, but my wife would enjoy administering the treatment WAY too much!

The real magic bullet is that you have to WANT to quit.
Once I wanted to quit I just went cold turkey. Get busy with your hands and keep busy. Also try to avoid triggers. In my case I always smoked when I talked on the phone so I avoided phone calls for a couple of weeks and when I did talk on the phone I stood up and didn't sit and get comfortable.

I'm not anti-social; I'm just not user friendly

This is the truth. I spent a fortune on gimmicks. Finally had pneumonia & had a choice quit or die. Never went back. Around 20 years and yes at weird times I still crave one.dieselgal wrote:The real magic bullet is that you have to WANT to quit.

Re: Off topic ( Smoking )
It finally occurred to me that I was making too big a deal out of it. If you think its gonna be a big horrible experience then it will be.
I smoked my last 2 cigarettes one afternoon and that was the end of it. I didnt set a date, didnt go to quitting websites (they made me want a smoke) and it wasnt as bad as I thought. That was about 4 years ago. I know most people know the exact date they quit. I dont.
I was also on Zyban and Im sure It was a big help.
I still crave cigarettes but nothing I cant handle. The NicoDemon wont get me again.

I agree with Bonnie - deciding to quit is easy, I've done it many times! Now, sticking with it, that's the hard part.I find it very easy to quit.
It is also true that it will not be effective until YOU are ready as well as willing. I've been willing many times, but ready to ....... nuh uh.
I bought the patches, and went cold turkey. Whilst I think it was one of the hardest things I think I've ever done in some respects , it still was easier than I thought it would be. It has been about 6 years now. Still love to walk downwind of a smoker, and breathe deeply. Hmmmm. But would NEVER smoke even one again, I'd be buying a packet straight away, I know me.
Now, chocolate, the next hurdle .....THAT's going to be a killer challenge

Snorebert nailed it here.......well said. The one thing that I learned is that is that it has to be your time to quit - not someone else's. The other thing was that I accepted my previous attempts not as failures but rather as rehersals for the real thing. To this day, I swear I could pick up smoking in a heartbeat. I miss it all the time.
I smoked since my teens and decided New Years 2005 was my goal, and I set my mind to it...to do it for ME,
for my health. At this point I had already been a vegetarian, gave up caffiene, and smoking made NO sense in my life.
I bought some of the nicorette gum, patches, and dug my heels in to be 'successful THIS TIME". Thankfully, that monkey
is off my back, but it was one of the hardest things I've ever done! Wishing you all the best, you CAN do it!

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God. And remember - the richest person is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least.
Re: Off topic ( Smoking )
You want to know FUNNY? I can't STAND the smell of cigarrettes!!!! I've accused a coworker of smoking because she reeks of it. I can't figure it out - she swears she doesn't smoke, her husband doesn't smoke, but she reeks!!!!!
I can't have it in my house. I have to air out my clothes and car all the time.
But I love to do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm insane. Can I get a wallet card for that?
LOL,
B.

Re: Off topic ( Smoking )
Best way is to never start in the first place ... guess you didn't try that approach though.
You could always try suing the tobacco industry to cover the cost of one of Slinky's "fresh air farms" to get yourself detoxed.
Cravings, habits, addictions, and obsessive compulsions are engraved into the mind with certain hormones and nuero/bio- chemical processes. I remember reading that Dr. Weil, Dr. Oz, and other authors stating that it takes an average of about 8 weeks to change a habit or rid yourself of cravings or addictions. That is how long it takes for the hormones and nuero/bio- chemical processes to readjust and rebalance themselves. So if you can find a way to "completely" stop the addictive behaviour for about 8 weeks (ie. 8 weeks of going cold turkey), quiting should become much easier after that.

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.
