Fisher & Paykel HC220 CPAP

Post by hodag » Tue Mar 10, 2009 9:40 pm

I have a Fisher & Paykel HC220 CPAP machine that a friend gave me. It works fine except, during the middle of the night a noise, more like a vibration comes up from the machine, up the hose, into the mask and right up into the bone in my ear. Like a high pitch wine. Does anyone else have this problem or solution to the problem. I would like to use this unit for camping. It works fine except for this problem. I do alot of camping during the summer and would like to leave it in the camper. One less thing to bring into the camper you know. thanks.

Problem you have here is that so few people have F&P cpaps - I trialled an GC200 HC221LE & HC604 & also pulled apart the HC200 & HC221LE. The blower is a self contained unit & what you are describing sounds a bit like a dry bearing that squeals when it gets hot. But, that is a wild guess.

DSM, Your analysis sounds right on. Now what, can you repair these things? I'm sure it is high dollars to do so! thanks.

Problem is I am in Australia else I'd love to fix your machine. Many years ago I worked for F&P in New Zealand & have a high level of confidence in their gear.
I knew Gary Paykel who was MD in the 1990s. A great company.
