Understanding nightly numbers

Post by frenchie » Thu Mar 05, 2009 12:19 pm

Im still pretty new to all of this, I just started using my machine on Saturday. I dont have a card reader yet so Im just going off the display on my machine. I know that the goal is to have 0 leaks and as few Ahi's as possible. After 5 nights of use my AHI is at .7 but my Leaks is at 32.2L/min which seems really high. Should I be conserned or since my AHI's are low is the high leaks not something to worry about? Or am I misinterperting the information?

zero leaks reading are for people who use ResMed machines.

You have a Respironics type machine. Your leak of 32 is within acceptable limits for your mask. However, getting nightly data via the software would allow you to determine if leaks are indeed correlated to OI, HI, or AHI values.

Since your AHI is 0.7 ... and your leak rate is acceptable, I wouldn't worry about anything right now unless you are still feeling tired or having other OSA symptoms.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Your AHI is great!

What is your pressure setting? There is a graph in your Mask Manual" that will tell you what leak rate is acceptable for your pressure( what leak rate will be compensated for by the machine at that pressure). Find your pressure and follow up to where your pressure meets the leak rate line. In Respironics machines, anything above that number (it's based on your pressure) is your actual leak rate.

My setting is at 10. So according to the leak rate for my mask is 31 so does that mean my leakage is still at a 1.2L/min? I guess with the low AHI's I dont have to worry about it to much, just trying to understand the information

That's exactly what your leak rate means! A leakage of 1.2L/min is fine at 10 cm. It will probably vary a bit but if it stays near there, you're fine! Your AHI is great! It will vary too. If either vary too much you may have to make some adjustments. Just come and ask!

It's good that you want to understand what everything means and learn to manage your therapy yourself so, keep asking!!!
