Resmed Vpap auto 25

Post by Gerryk » Mon Mar 02, 2009 9:46 am

Can anyone tell me what version software I would need for this machine to track my data? I am going to get a new machine today and will probably get this machine and wondering if the software I have will work with it. I have the Auto scan 3.0 for my old auto machine. If this won't work where can I get the software?
Thanks all.

If you get any S8 II you will need AT LEAST ResScan 3.4 and 3.7 is the newest version so you might as well go for the 3.7 issue. No need to replace the cable reader.

I have no idea but I'd guess if so it would have to be a Resmed proprietary cable. These manufacturers are "great" about seeing to it that you need proprietary "parts" for everything.

No new resmed just another new M series. The factory can't figure out what is going on. If it weren't for my tech seeing it shut off and turn back on they would think I am nut. Wait they do think I am nuts but so do I, anyway that's another story. I am stuck with the same machine that keeps malfunctioning.

Null modem will only work with the bigger s7 shaped machines (Vpap III, S7s, Malibu, Vpap Adapt SV).

The S8 shaped units all use an expensive USB cable & it is a Resmed 'special'. You can get a serial cable but it is equally expensive (both need a special plug that connects where the datacard plugs in). They are over priced.

In many respects it is better to buy a Resmed datacard reader as it is not that much more expensive that the cables. Even cheaper if you buy a ACS-38 version.

Duh. You said AutoScan so I assumed a Resmed.

W/a Respironics M Series you need EncorePro or EncoreViewer and I haven't the slightest idea which version of either. W/EncoreViewer most likely just v. 1

Gerry

I think we are getting confused - do you have a Resmed Vpap or an M-Series ?

Your early posts indicate you had a Resmed Autoset T (which uses AutoScan 3.0 software & a null-modem cable)
Your 1st post mentions ResScan & Vpap (Get ResScan 3.4 or 3.7 if you want to run it on Vista)
Then you mention another M-series ?

Which is it

First off I want to thank everyone for their help.

I do have an older autoset T that I was using until I was put on an M series BiPap this past fall. I have since been having tremendous amounts of problems with the M series. I have an M series BiPap auto that is now set at 21 and 17.
The biggest problem I am having is that the machine is shutting down on it's own and usually starts back up after a moment. I have found that I am not alone in finding this machine shutting down on it's own when at higher pressures when a large leak occurs. My problem is that my mask has a large leak rate just from the exhalation port.

I was asking about the Vpap auto 25 because I was trying to get my machine switched from the M to the Vpap.
If I do get this machine where would I get the reader that DSM mentioned.

I am sorry if what I have said is confusing. I have been sticking with the therapy but I am not resting. I am actually getting less rest because my machine keeps shutting down on me.

I have been fighting with my DME to get a Vpap auto 25 and I am ready to give up. I know the only reason I got the M is because they make more money on it that the 25.

If I am still not clear on what I am talking about I will try again after a few cups of coffee and some fresh spring air.

I think I am doing pretty good sticking with it since early November and having a machine that is malfunctioning to boot.

GerryK, you ARE doing great just continuing w/this bi-level therapy when your Bi-PAP has had so many problems that you've gone thru 3 of them all doing the same thing! Are you stuck w/this same local DME supplier? Have you talked w/Respironics personally? Have you been able to talk to the local Respironics Rep? I think at this point I would at least TRY to convince my insurance company that they are paying for a bi-level model that is inadequate for your needs and the problem you have had w/3 of the same model and you want to try another brand and model but your local DME provider won't cooperate to see if maybe your insurance company will step in and help. They quite possibly won't but at this point what in the devil do you have to lose?

Not really stuck with them but the other ones in the area are no as good as this place.

I have not talked to the manufacturer and that is my next step.

I have talked to the insurance company and they said they will not replace it unless repairs are more than a new machine. They also will not step in to ask my DME to give me a different brand.

I am going to make an appointment this week to go in and see my doc. Hopefully I have input from more people that use this machine at a higher pressure that say they also have the same problem that it's this machine and not me as the DME suggests.

If I have that info the doctor will demand a different machine as I have already talked to him about this.

I see you have the Mirage Quattro full face mask. I'm not familiar w/the full face masks but have you given any consideration to trying a different full face mask after checking what the allowed vent rate is for the various full face masks at your pressure is trying to find one w/a lower rate than the Quattro? Maybe a mask w/a lower allowed vent rate would help or solve the problem?

Hey! I'm just grasping at straws here!

I have tried every mask on the market. I even purchased some myself that my DME did not carry. This is the only mask that I can wear that doesn't leak terribly or blow on my eyes. If having surgery would open my nose up so I could use a nasal mask I would do it in a heartbeat but my doc says it won't do a thing since I had no improvement having the turbinates done.

I just think the leak rate is too high for the machine to compensate for.

Gumby made a good suggestion about the power brick for these M Series BiPAPs you've been thru in one of your other threads. Have you been given different power bricks when they've exchanged your previous models or have you always had just that original power brick???

I have tried new power bricks. At this point everything but my DME has been swapped out.
