To anyone who has had their gallbladder removed:
I had my gallbladder out in June 2007. It was done laparoscopically. I did not have any gallstones, but my gallbladder was not working properly (12% ejection fraction on the HIDA scan). For a while my symptoms (light colored stool, upper abdominal pain, bloating, inability to digest fats, etc.) improved greatly. Then, they started to return one by one.
So far, since I have started on CPAP therapy, I have not had one abnormal bowel movement and can digest fats again! Any other cholecystectomy patients on here with similar experiences?

Re: CPAP Therapy and Bile Flow
Glad things are back to normal! I had my gallbladder out in 1965!!! and never had any further problems with digestion. When I had it done, they did the BIG surgery. Huge incision, also removing my appendix - ending my pole dancing days!!
Come to think of it - I do remember is a little trouble with bacon. Almost as soon as I swallowed it, I'd be looking for a restroom! But, that issue went away after a few years and is not a problem any longer.
Good luck and keep improving!

I had my Gallbladder out over 20 years ago and I agree about the huge incision! CPAP Sue is right Pole dancing is certainly out. However I have not been so lucky as having no digestion issues. I still have issues with Gerd. The good thing is that once they removed the Gallbladder it got rid of the pain that ran up my back and under the ribs on one side.

I guess I was part of that 10-20% that have postcholecystectomy syndrome. Basically, where you still have the same symptoms after the surgery. However, I can't complain now!
Whatta you mean pole dancing is out? Scars are sexy!

My scar MAY be the best part of my old body! I have kind of stretched it out a little/lot.
