Leaks and Setting Numbers

Post by bap40 » Thu Feb 26, 2009 9:28 am

I feel strange even asking you guys and gals this question since I probably should know this answer. So don't blast me on this. I have had my machine set in auto until last night when I put it back to cpap to get rid of the flow limitations I have been having lately. My auto pressures were set at 13-14.5. I set the cpap pressure to 13.5 last night and my ahi was 2.5. My apnea's do correspond with spikes of leaks. My question is should I raise the pressure to 14 or just leave it at 13.5? I did just recieve the Swift LT for her from my DME and absolutly love it and my leaks are getting lower with this mask. The average numbers in auto do seem to be in the 13.whatever range, below the high setting of 14.5, although it did go to the max number every night. So should I just leave the cpap setting at 13.5 or push it to 14? I don't want to over pressurize either... Perplexed!

Thanks,
Brooke

Leave it where it is for at least a few nights. See if you settle in with the new settings. Later if you want to experiment you can try raising the pressure by .5 for a few nights and compare the results. It sounds to me that you're doing well right now.
