Problem with Aussie heated tube

Post by 4Katie » Mon Aug 01, 2005 6:50 am

I hate to ask for help again, especially so soon after my Breeze pillows debacle, but...

I used my Aussie heated hose for the first time last night, and the hose won't stay attached to the mask hose. It fits it, but not very tight. Sometime during the night it came off.

I'm afraid to try any home remedies cuz I don't want to do anything that might damage the soft rubber at the end of the hose. I did email OZ with my problem, but I thought somebody here might have some suggestions.

Thanks!

Hi, it's me again! Just a thought, but have you got the right hose for your machine? I know, for example, that they do a special hose for the PB 420 series which is different from other hoses. Did it come with any paperwork?

If you don't have the PB 420, then I think you should have the SZ4.

Thanks for coming to my rescue again, Sir!

I do have the right hose. I actually bought two hoses, cuz I wanted one for the PB machine that I use for travel.

And it's not the connection to the machine I'm having trouble with - that one is very tight. My problem is connecting the heated hose to the short hose on my headgear.

If I'm right you have the breeze, and the breeze has an extra bit that fits to the end of the hose before it would fit into the Aussie Heated Hose (or the slumber wonder number from down under as i call it). Have you got the clearish swivel plastic bit at the end of your breeze hose in place? If not, you may struggle with the Aussie hose.

Apart from that I can't come up with any other suggestions sorry !

I do have a Breeze, and I'm not sure if I'm using that piece - but I'll definitely check it out tonight!

Katie,
The Breeze's narrow hose needs an adapter to connect properly to any xPAP hose -heated or not heated. Coincidentally - I went through the same thing last night - first night with the HH.

Take a look at the mask side of your old hose - you'll probably find the adapter there. It'll be a piece of firm plastic sticking out of the hose's softer cuff. Pull it out, use some force if you have to. The adapter's narrower side fits into the Breeze and the wider side into the PAP hose.

By the way, all PAP hoses have the same circumference, err,

P.S. What color of hose cover did you get? I kept imagining that dramatic magenta (one of my favorite colors) and when it arrived it was grey...

Sounds like a case for some 200 mph duct tape (NASCAR speed rated). I know that doesn't help but it might make you laugh. Hope you can find the little thingamabob.

It rained here last night and so I had to stop my therapy last night around 1am. I had my humiditty machine all the way down and the house was cooler as we've seen some relief from our recent heat wave. I guess all of this combined lead to condensation in my mask. My hot hose should arrive any day now. I tried to turn my humiditty machine up a few notches but the mask and hose were soaked and I was drowning. Now I'm very sleepy and realize the difference in how I've felt the last few days.

CPAP good. OSA bad.

You and sir_cumference were quite right. It wasn't easy, but I got that plastic piece out, and the heated hose is now snugly attached to my headgear.

O - my cover is also a boring grey. But I'm okay with that - it's rather unobtrusive. Anyway, the cover is sure nicer than the hard hose.

Oh well, since a spammer bumped this old thread up I might as well add - for those new to the heated hose - that by now my hose is no longer gray - the HH (heated hose) is a great thing - but I needed an additional cover it and got turqouise colored snuggle hose.
