One of the things I like about my HC150 is that it seems to have quieted the noise from my machine. With the IH on the M series it seems like some sound travels along with the air in the hose. Maybe the HC150 acts like a muffler, but I noticed a fair amount of noise reduction with it. It also allows very good control of how much humidity you get. You can use it in passover mode to turning it all the way up for a torrential rainout. I usually have mine set at 1 3/4 to 2 on the dial. I can't imagine what 5 would be like since 3 cause some rainout for me.

I needed a spare and just had a bit too much money sitting around so I bought the 150. I shouldn't have wasted my money. I still have to fill it daily. It needs to be turned down to around 1.5. The 150 seems like it would put out enough humidity to fill a sauna. I should have just kept my m series but now I'm too lazy to undo all of the lash-up I have for the 150 and since I did need a spare.....

I never had cleaning, leaking or other issues with my m series.

the HC150 wasn't designed to work with the M Series - so it may (and will) throw your data off.....AHI, snore, etc.

That's strange because I have been using the HC150 on my "M" series since the leaks in the chamber of the intergrated one shorted out the heating element and my DME would not send it in for repair. I have not seen any change in my data readings since I changed.

Mine will go 3 days without filling and it does not run dry overnight. I would not trade my HC150 for 3 of the intergrated ones.

Ya think? I've used both with my M series Auto with A-flex. And with my M series BiPAP Auto. My data/treatment/pressures used/how I feel next day (well rested)/etc. are the same whether I used the dinky (imho) integrated M humidifier or the wonderful (imho) Fisher & Paykel HC 150 separate humidifier.

The higher your pressure, the more water you need, and the less likely you are to have rainout...

Darn, looks like I'll be wanting to move this up on the list of things I want to buy....I guess I'm not meant to stick to my new year's resolution of cutting back on spending this year (again). Maybe I'll pay off the card next year.

I believe the HC-150 was designed to work with just about all devices. It is a very straight forward design, like putting a teapot on a stove. There are a few that the F&P web site says are incompatible but the M series is OK. My ex-DME told me Respironics told her is is not compatible but when I told her I already know otherwise, she said "well their technical support told her they haven't tested it and cannot recommend it's use". Other statements on their site say they do not test with any other brands of equipment. So I suppose if you don't use a Respironics mask it will fail also - NOT!

It's going to be okay in the end; if it's not okay, it's not the end.

OldLincoln wrote:The HC150 is great. Look at the design of the chamber - an open pot that simply slides out and the nipples on top to fill and clean. The design for the integrated has 2 ports at an odd angle and you have to open the hatch and slide it out unplugging the hose assembly when doing it. A big deal to me is the integrated can leak into the blower unit and fry the circuits. The HC150 is a standalone and water would not enter the unit.

People who travel with a humidifier often like the integrated because it packages nicely. However, we read quite often about them forgetting to drain the tank and ruining the blower when water runs into the circuits. I leave my humidifier at home when traveling as it's only for a few days at a time.
Well, you all sold me. Ordered one this morning and a hose cover.
