Choosing new DME

Post by hayeswildrick » Tue Feb 17, 2009 10:03 pm

I've been using Landauer Metropolitan as my DME for almost two years now, and while they are not terrible, they are not very good either. For instance, I always specify that I want several white filters for my M series CPAP (they are supposed to be replaced monthly), and no gray filters (because they last just about forever). They always send me one white and one gray. That's how they come, they tell me.

Three months ago my doctor faxed a new prescription. When I called to order new supplies they said "We'll have to contact your doctor. We don't have an up to date prescription." Two weeks later, with no supplies arriving, I called and they told me they were waiting on the doctor. I called my doctor who said they hadn't been contacted, but would resend the prescription right away. Now, another week or so later, I'm still waiting for my mask, etc.

And another thing that burns me is that they won't sell me replacement parts for my mask. I don't need a full mask and headgear every three months. I'd be happy to just get new silicone parts, which I know are available retail. "Nope, we only provide the whole thing." (I keep using my old headgear, because it's adjusted properly.)

So, after my little rant...

Can anyone recommend a DME that serves central New Jersey?

I use a Mirage Liberty mask. Unfortunately, "billmyinsurance.com" doesn't list this as available on their website.
