It just keeps getting worse

Post by nobody » Sat Feb 14, 2009 6:25 am

I set the bottom pressure up to 9. I didn't sleep well. I had a stomach ache last night. It wasn't until after 1:30 am it went away. Then I woke up several times with the mask leaking. I don't know what it's going to take to actually get another mask. I've bought two of them from the auction site, both never got here. Yet another unrelated package has gone missing as well. The post office just plays dumb. I wonder how I can get people to send me my stuff through another carrier. I think the postal workers are losing my stuff. The regular carrier has gone missing and this replacement they have is annoying. I've seen him driving along the road talking on his cell phone. He opens the box then tries to throw it in there and if it ends up in the street he just drives on. He probably keeps the packages

Hello nobody,
I am sorry you are so frustrated with your set up. The numbers actually do not look that awful. If it was my therapy I would bump up the maximum number because you seem to be hitting it pretty regularly through the night. I am not a medical professional, take my suggestions as just that.

As far as the Post Office, were any of the packages that were sent to you delivery confirmation? There is a tracking # that the Post Office can track packages with and they can see exactly where your package was last seen. This has helped me when I had packages that I sent out went missing. I even had a Post Office worker call the person I was sending the package to to tell them that I had indeed sent it. He could see the time and day that I put it in the Post Office here. Another thing, if you truly are not happy with your carrier, you should talk to the Postmaster at your Post Office. They won't know what you know, unless you share that information.

Good luck on your packages and your therapy. Perhaps someone else has better ideas than mine. The last idea I had was to get a PO box, then your stuff would at least not end up on the street.

Karen

Thanks Karen, but my numbers before were under 1.0, consistently. Not that I felt any less tired, but still.

The post office finally found two of three long lost packages. Now I have a couple different mask styles to try. Hope that will make things better.

Don't get discouraged, nobody.
A few year ago we had member - relatively small woman who suffered badly from aerophagia (gas) even though she had low pressure. Eventually she was given a bi-level -which was in no way "justified" by her pressure level, but was justified by her non-tolerance for other modes of therapy.

Could a bipap help me? I also have a lot of air in my gut. I wake up at least a couple times per night and belch it out.

He's not playing dumb ? Been to the post office lately .I seen a post on here about a week ago from a lady who said that is like a throat sphincter problem. I guess you have a couple of 'em. Ha Ha, Anyway if you tell your ent , I am sure they know what you mean. I believe there is a place in your throat that is supposed to be closed but if you have a abnormality it can stay open allowing air to enter your stomach.

Nobody, letter carriers such as you describe are few and far between. If your allegations are correct and not exagerations you should be calling your post master and reporting those actions. Postal Inspectors would soon root out the truth and the carrier would be dismissed - or the allegations found to be unsubstantiated.

I'm taking a guess that USPS took a REAL bad hit during the high gas prices, most likely there is a freeze on hiring that's been in place for some time now and they are struggling to handle the volume of mail w/a declining work force. I know I mailed out a package on 22 Dec from Michigan to Arkansas that wasn't delivered until 22 Jan.

Delivering mail doesn't seem like a particulary high-skilled job, almost a no-brainer - UNTIL you get a look behind the scenes and experience just what IS involved in delivering mail.

My pressure is a lot higher but I know that belching and stomach pain and waking up passing gas for 15 minutes. I rarely get it now but I am not sure what helped. I took prescription Nexium for a few months but I also played around with various cflex settings and finally changed machines. I know eating right before bed was one of the things that made it really bad or going to bed after overeating or even eating spicey foods. Also the higher the cflex the worse it was. You might try a straight pressure and play around with all the cflex settings. Also try taking a Pepcid complete an hour or so before bed.

If you try all these things you will probably find something that works.

One odd thing and maybe someone else can answer, I can't see why your pressure is doing that spiking? I really haven't seen that before on encore reports of my own or others. There is usually a pretty clear cause and effect relationship with encore which I don't see here?

My Encore reports usually show those chairback or stairstep pressure rises and falls pretty regularly. I've seen them on many peoples' Encore reports.

-SWS or ozij could probably explain why those are fairly common...something to do with the way the Respironics algorithm tests the waters so to speak (the air, really ), as best I remember.

This is from one of my downloads...the spiky little chairs are there, too. I don't pay any attention to them.

I've watched it happen since I see the delivery of the mail pretty much everyday from my window.

So it's not going well. I fell asleep fine, mask was very comfortable and all sealed nicely. Then I woke up about a half hour ago and the air was gushing out my new mask around my chin. I can't get it to seal up again. IT MAKES NO SENSE. The pressure was at its lowest. Nothing else had changed. I really don't get it and am really frustrated because I really like this mask. It's the most comfortable one I've used.

It seems like every mask I try leaks, especially around the corner of my mouth. I'm starting to wonder if it would be better to glue the mask to my face. I mean, look at that, do you think with all that leaking it's actually treating the apnea?? I'm not sure it is, although I still swallow a loadton of air
