Linda, it's good to see your Peeps again!

And it's always good to see your lovely words - both places. You've always been the best newcomer-welcomer and encourager I've ever seen!

I have posted on some other boards for "conditions", all on AOL, who did do one thing right. The message boards are very easy to manuver (or were before they went web-wide). Each board had permanent sub headings, such as "Introduce yourself", "questions we've all asked", "suggestions for coping". That way once you've immersed yourself in the basics, you can continue in that segment to help as you've been helped, or go to the other permanent threads which you might find more appealing. I don't know how feasible that would be here but it does help both new and old posters.

I would say that the "guest" is posting from AOL, so it's reporting all of the AOL users.....since it compares IP numbers for matches to registered users.

I take it "guest" and the 47 registered users above all happen to draw from AOL's unique dynamic IP pooling. My understanding is that AOL IP addresses can even change mid-session.

Unfortunately that presents a technical problem for cpaptalk.com, and perhaps even concerns from those who are incorrectly associated with these types of guest posts.

(on edit: Didn't get a chance to see your explanation before posting, Den. I think you're right on the money regarding what happened.)

Now I have to say that if it turned out that these were all one person, they would need the greatest psychiatrist in the world to diagnose the obvious severe case of multiple split personality

It's safe to say that these are all not one person. LOL!

As dsm said, I have also had direct contact with many of them and IF they all we to be the same person... that person would need to be one insane individual... I guess that is what made this so funny.

I would have liked to have seen the look on Johnny's face when he saw this one.
Sincerely,

This is a warm caring place for a newbie.

Post by RachelM » Tue Nov 07, 2006 8:44 pm

Maybe certain basics could be answered in a separate section, although I thought "Our Collective Wisdom" was such a place.

When CPAP was new, scary, frustrating, etc. I found this forum a WARM CARING PLACE where support and information was plenty. Also, those around me don't want to talk about CPAP as often as I needed to. Thanks to all who responded.

I would be all for better, more definitive, subject lines to help sort out which ones I have time to read.

I ran a hugely successful forum for over 5 years. I have been through it all.

One thing that they should do here is make some separate forums

Say

General CPAP Talk and News
CPAP Hardware
CPAP Masks
CPAP Software
DME, Doctors and others

you get the idea...

Need to also get rid of the "Guest" posting.

Hi,
I was diagnosed on August 17, 2006 and was lucky to find this forum right away. I was scared, knew I was over my head and found some of my answers immediately. But being a "newbie" I didn't even have a clue of some of the questions I should have been asking or looking for. It was the kind responses that encouraged me and showed me where to look that made this forum so great for me.
Everyone starts out new and learns, some more then others. But the one thing I have learned that there is always a question or a concern that may have a new variation on it. Machines develop problems, software issues, adjustments to masks, new masks on the market, etc.
The questions may start out the same, but as time goes by the responses have changed, due to more knowledge.
All I have to say is God Bless Newbies, we have all been there.

Calm down you people!

This is, as you all well know, also a hugely successful forum. Seems every time we get a little glitch people start to panic. Stop with the crazies please. No need to to have a pissy fit each time you wake up. The world as you know it is still here. Take a deep breath without the mask and enjoy.

For real excitement, try reading the headlines every day. If that doesn't do it, check out the local news and who is not with us anymore.

The administrator of this forum is nothing short of exceptional! I know it seems like we are family and don't want goofballs rocking the boat, but there really is another world out there. And yes, there are misguided trouble makers - just like when you were a teenager or whatever.

What's the expression--------? And don't have a ----------------?

Ask yourself this - Would Bart be more well behaved if his father was Dilbert instead of Homer?

Wow! that is bizarre!

How the heck did someone pull off that stunt?
All I can say is, it sure wasn't me. I've been me, and ONLY me for my entire life!

Perhaps this does have something to do with AOL, but the strange thing is, I ditched my AOL account back in September, and haven't used it to access this forum since.

ozij,
It doesn't matter. Either way, every time you post your IP is recorded. So even if Vader is posting from a NEW IP now, the system is still matching up the old IP and the screenname (just as it would also match up the new IP and the screenname). It's nothing personal.
