I realize it's just my second night. I just had a few questions.
1. I seem to have slept through the night fairly well, yet I was tired this morning. Anyone else wake up tired after using a cpap? Will this eventually go away?
2. I had heartburn in the morning. Happen to anyone else? Will this eventually go away?
3. I have an S8 Autoset II machine, so all I can see in terms of data is time used and a usage count. What does usage count mean? I have a usage count of 1
Thanks in advance.

Re: 2nd night with questions
Yes, depending on how long you have had apnea, it came take time to start to feel better. One night is not going to be a fix for the lack of oxygen in the past. It affects all of your organs. For me it dawned on me at about six weeks that I was starting to feel better. As more time passes you will start to notice things.
Yes, indigestion can be a major problem that many of us have or have had. For me, I started to take some Tums and gas-ex before going to bed even though I do take zantac daily. What happens is that you are swallowing air during the night. You can try to keep your head at a higher angle than the rest of your body by raising the mattress a bit. It can go away on it's own after time too.
Usage time is how many nights you use the machine.
Good luck and I am sure you will get many responses with even more info than I can provide.

Congrats on your second night! Your machine should be able to provide some data on the LCD screen. Push and hold the left and right buttons at the same time for a few seconds and see if the "Efficiency Menu" comes up. If it does, you can scroll throuugh and read your nightly pressure, leak rate, AI (apnea index or number of apnea events per hour) HI (Hypopnea index or number of hypopnea events per hour) and AHI (they combination of the two previous numbers). You want AHI to be under 5.0, with AI the lower the better. The lower the leak rate the better. Without some data its kinda hard to do more than guess why you still feel tired. It might also be helpful to know what your pressure settings are. Some people just take a while to start feeling better. Good luck.

Yes, and yes.vaderboi wrote:I realize it's just my second night. I just had a few questions.

Heartburn is a result of gastric esophageal reflux - or even gastric esophageal reflux disease aka GERD. GERD - with heartburn, or without it, disrupts sleep, and may cause nasal congestion because the nasal tissue responds to the acid. For some people, PAP therapy aggravates it - for others, the therapy brings relief. I don't know about its eventually going away. I do know that:2. I had heartburn in the morning. - Heartburn should not be ignored - it should be treated
- All heartburn medication says something the effect that if heartburn still persists after X time of use, you should contact a doctor.
Welcome to the forum, and good luck!

vaderboi, if you'd like to have the Clinician Setup manual for your AutoSet II machine, please PM me your email address. Will be glad to send that to you. It shows all the items for the menus in your machine.

Re: 2nd night with questions
Thanks ozij. I have talked with my doctor about it. I didn't have GERD until I started having sleeping problems, so she thinks the sleep apnea is the cause of it. I guess I was trying to figure out how to prevent it from happening after I sleep. I take prescription strength prilosec in the morning, but I guess I should pop a few tums before bed as a preventative measure.ozij wrote: Heartburn is a result of gastric esophageal reflux - or even gastric esophageal reflux disease aka GERD. Thanks for the info, that worked. Here's what I found:alnhwrd wrote:Congrats on your second night! Your machine should be able to provide some data on the LCD screen. Leak: 0.30L/s
AHI: 2.0
AI: 0.1
HI: 1.9
Don't know if that's good or bad though.
