CPAP Machine Warranty Service?

Post by PJr » Thu Feb 05, 2009 8:49 pm

I received a prescription for a new auto-pap machine today. My DME provider has always been helpful and accommodating.
However, today he said all he had were pre-owned units and when he does order new machines he no longer orders them from the internet because he can't get warranty repairs.
So, he now orders direct from someone that assists with warranty issues, thus paying a higher price. Is he being honest? If I buy my machine from an internet source how would warranty issues be handled?
Thank you for any explanation.

When my M-series Pro started acting up I waited until I bought a back up machine and then sent it in to cpap.com where I bought it six months earlier. I paid the shipping to Houston and a month later got it back. The shipping to Houston was the only charge I paid. They told me it needed and got a new blower.

Buy from the sponsors of this forum and you won't be screwed over.

Jeff,

I had two accidents with my new Sandman auto. According to the manual water getting into the machine is not covered by warranty. I emailed cpap.com where I purchased my machine and let them know what was wrong with my machine and how it happened. They were great. They sent me a return number and instructions on returning the machine. I just received a new replacement machine today for the one that got ruined by water getting into it. I did write a letter explaining how the machine could tip very easily. I now have it secure in a small drawer with a hole drilled out in the back so it cannot tip anymore.

Whoever told you that doesn't know that cpap.com is a trustworthy site to purchase equipment. I am very pleased with them.

Try cpap.com. You can get a price quote from them if you ask for one.

Take care,

Anne

Run don't walk from the company you are currently talking to, I can see their lips moving from here. That only means one thing, they are lying. If you can afford to get one outright, https://www.cpap.com/, is the place to go. They price match and have free shipping on orders over $100, and stand behind their products, ask for their lowest pricing not MAP. I also bought a second machine from them. Get a machine that records full data and then get the software and reader to make use of it. Jim

Are you using insurance for your purchase or paying out of pocket from this new scripted APAP? In most cases if your insurance is paying, they contract w/this supplier at a specific set reimbursement for HCPCS e0601. An APAP is HCPCS code e0601. My understanding is if this supplier accepts Medicare, they have to supply the scripted device - or its equivalent (unless your script says DAW) and can NOT charge you any extra. If they've been good to you in the past you might cut them some slack on this issue - but diplomatically insist on being provided w/a new APAP. At least they were being honest and didn't try to pawn off a pre-owned unit as new. If they absolutely won't come thru w/a new replacement at no extra cost contact the manufacturer directly w/your problem AND THE LOCAL SUPPLIER's name and address. And, I'm really rather curious WHY a local DME supplier has a lot of pre-owned units on hand?
