In addtion to my comment above, I use my phone to listen to downloaded podcasts while I'm walking...my phone has a built-in step counter. Find that I'm about at half of the mythical 10,000 steps a day at 2 miles a day, so not getting there any time soon *smile*. Since the only person I'm competing with is myself, I'm fine with that.
The reason that I started walking regularly was that my blood pressure was going up before I started using cpap. It leveled off and went down some after starting on cpap, but the walking has helped even more, and now my blood pressure is in the "normal" range. Interestingly enough, some news on blood pressure that indicates that risk of heart problems goes down some when blood pressure is around (or below) 120/80 ("normal") instead of below 140/90, which will most likely be disproved in the next couple of years *smile*. Just another thing to worry about and raise one's blood pressure.

LOL! You have a fun sense of humor. Thanks for the laugh.CaptainRaven40 wrote:I exercise everyday. I walk to the fridge then the stove and I turn it on. Then I walk and get a pan or pot and cook. Then I walk to the table and eat. Then I walk to the sink (which may or may not be a clean place. But that is for another thread) and I scrub dishes and really feel the burn. Then I walk to the couch and sit my fat butt down and have a cool beverage because that was some hard work right there.

I am very happy you are taking steps to improve your health. I am in the same boat on that. I have changed my eating lifestyle to a much healthier one. I do walk outside in my neighborhood when weather permits. If it doesn't I simply start doing work around the house. Cleaning and doing any activity to keep me moving. I am not going to be some sort of super model over night but I am making better choices even if they are small. Smaller ones add up to big ones. So in the long run of things I am helping myself. I want to live till I am old and am still able to do things, but I have to continue to work on me now to be that person later. So daily exercise for me changes from day to day.RogerSC wrote:In addtion to my comment above, I use my phone to listen to downloaded podcasts while I'm walking...my phone has a built-in step counter. Re: Poll How many days a week do you exercise
In the past 2 years I've exercised 3 to 5 times a week, but stepped it up to include running this year (when I say running I really mean jogging ) and exercising daily.
After years of stubborn BP in the 160/90 range ... gradually it's come down to 105/65 since I've been more active. I might actually go off my BPs medication soon.
I've also lost about 22 pounds in the last 2 years, being careful with my diet and trying to follow a lower carbohydrate intake, which worked!
Now here's the kicker ...
Recent sleep test diagnosed moderate OSA. (AHI 16)
I am 100% sure I've only developed sleep apnea in the last 12 months or so , before that I slept very well indeed and felt wonderful.
Really strange because my lifestyle is probably the healthiest it has ever been.

Returning back to the martial arts, a definite two times a week.
