Go into Control Panels/Administrative Tools/System Configuration

Scroll down to find "SQL Server (ENCOREPROEX)
Make sure this item's check box is checked - if not, check it
Scroll down further for the item "Smart Card" and make sure that one is also checked
same for "Smart Card Removal Policy", "SQL Server Browser", "SQL Server VSS Writer"
Hi there. Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm having the same problem Gordyp had, but none of the solutions I'm finding on here work. I just got a Vista machine, have only had it a couple of weeks and it works fine. The driver for the card reader seemed to install fine, and the encorepro program works, but it says "SmartCard reader not detected" when I try to download data.

I've tried all the troubleshooting I've found on the forums via a search and so far no luck.

The encorepro version is 1.8.49, and I have VIsta Home set to automatic updates. Any thoughts on what might be wrong?

As I recall, I copied the drivers from the CD onto my hard drive, reinstalled the drivers while pointing to the version on my hard drive. And make sure it's set to load automatically.

Thanks Mindy. I have gone into the settings and made sure this loads automatically. But I am not quite sure what you mean by "pointing to the version". Put the driver in a different directory or subdirectory?

When you go into the system control panel, you can reload a driver by "pointing" to where it's stored. Then it knows how to find it....

Ah, I get it. I actually did that last night when I was having trouble getting the system to install the driver. Once I changed things it appeared to install the driver just fine. I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling encorepro again and see if that does anything.
