Mako Smart Card Reader with Vista

Post by Gordyp » Wed Jan 28, 2009 9:42 am

Hi, Guys (and gals),
It's been ages since I've posted, meaning things have been going well. However, I have a problem with my new Vista system. I can't seem to get Encore Pro to recognize the card reader. I have a Cd with the Vista drivers and instructions. I tried calling Resprionics, but without a formal provider they don't help. Any ideas?

Cheers, Gordon.

You don't mention -
1. The exact error message
2. Encore version
3. Vista version AND Service Pack (ex. SP2?)

Mine is Vista Home Premium SP1

I dont have the same type of cpap software that you do, I have the resmed 3.7. But I do have VIsta, when i first plugged in my card reader vista didnt see it either, but I put the software cd in, attached the card reader and had the card in teh reader, then vista asked if i wanted to install drivers I said yes and after about 2 minutes it was ready to use. Dont know if this helps you or not but it might be worth a try.........Vista is a little different than other windows apps

I have Vista and every time I use the card reader, I have to re-load the driver. It is only a few simple steps, but annoying.

I have Vista and had to reload the card reader driver a few times (delete and reload). Got tired of it and figured out how to fix .... I think it's in the start-up list where you then specify to automatically start up the software - and I think I copied the drivers to the hard drive so it could easily find it (sorry that's a little fuzzy - that was over a year ago). It does, however, work.

Sorry,
I have EncorePro 1.8. The error in Encore Reads: "smart card reader not detected". I have Vista home premium (6.0.6001).
Strange though, because Device Manager shows the reader installed and working. Also the driver is 2800.SYS, which I believe is the correct Vista driver?

Thanks to everyone for replying. I had a similar problem the first time I did this on win xp, so I'm not new to Mako hardware. I guess the price is right
and I'm sure I'll get there eventually.

Here's one thing to try:

Go into Control Panels/Administrative Tools/System Configuration

Scroll down to find "SQL Server (ENCOREPROEX)
Make sure this item's check box is checked - if not, check it
Scroll down further for the item "Smart Card" and make sure that one is also checked
same for "Smart Card Removal Policy", "SQL Server Browser", "SQL Server VSS Writer"

You may not need all of these (and don't worry if you don't see them all) but make sure the ones you do have are checked.

Then Click on OK and see if that fixes the problem.

Miny you're a Genius!!!

I now realize how this happened... Beware teenage Gamers! My son was home from University at Christmas and he's an avid gamer.
Like a good Dad I let him use my comp cos his is at college and in order to speed up his games, he turned off all unused services.
at that time my Encore was on another computer. I'd never have figured it out.

just as an aside, a word of caution to everyone about downloading images. I bought a webhost package in order to build my own website,
and as part of that package I was offered images as headers. This was about 5 years ago. Last week I received a demand notice from GETTY
IMAGES for $6,000.00. apparently the end user is liable, and as we know, ignorance is no defense. I assumed the webhost owned those images.
This is affecting thousands upon thousands of small businesses.....Food for Thought.

Thanks again, Mindy.

Thank you Gordy for posting this. As soon as I can, I plan to load Encore Pro and my reader to this laptop.

Could do it right now, but my water bottle spilled on the way in, and I'm a little leery of the waterlogged CD's right now...

LOL,
B.

Hi, Mindy,
I put my flash drive through the wash and it still works great, although I wouldn't recommend it!

Omigosh! I don't think I'd want to try that one ... with my luck it would be ruined!

Ouch! Mindy, I was actually trying to reply to Babette's comment about her laptop. That'll teach me to try and multi-task
at my age.....sorry to both of you. No harm done I hope?

That's ok, gordyp - happens to me all the time; I'm getting too old to multitask

Men can't multi-anything
I can do one thing at a time - just not very well.
