I flung myself at Authority last night, breaking into the Clinician's Menu and changing the rate at which my (excellent, I've come to believe) ResMed Autoset ii machine returns to full pressure after backing off 3 cm to ease exhalation.
The downside was the mask seemed to gently pulsate.
The upside?
I kept the mask on for six hours.
Most of my life, I've only slept six hours a night, anyway. Darn good!
The leak rate doubled, but I think trimming the beard and tweaking the adjustment some will help with that. It went from 0.26 to about 0.7. Well, it nearly tripled, I guess. Still - my AHI was down and I slept more....

One of the frustrating things about this therapy is the sheer amount of time I've had to invest in learning all about it. I'm sure EVERYONE has better things to do....but once again, I want to thank those that clearly invest hours upon hours sharing the advice and experience here.
