I have severe GERD, on meds and cannot sleep on my left side without having my GERD symptoms return. I do use a wedge pillow and am currently on an APAP set at 8-11. 9 is my 90% pressure. I sleepy mainly on my back with is giving me back issues. Would changing to cpap mode help using the ramp to allow me to sleep on my side? If so what pressure would you use. Thanks for suggestions -

I assume you have software to monitor your therapy since you mention the 90% number.
What is your AHI like?
Do you use C-Flex? (some people have experimented with it On and Off)
Ramp?
Have you tried elevating the head of your bed (a few inches)?
If I was faced with that situation, I'd try 9 cm. as my CPAP pressure (with and without C-Flex)......and see what happens.

(5) REMstar Autos w/C-Flex & (6) REMstar Pro 2 CPAPs w/C-Flex - Pressure Setting = 14 cm.

Re: Cpap vs apap VS GERD
Yes - I have software - AHI steady at 1.0 or less. I have a pillow wedge which elevates my head 4-5 inches. I tried C-Flex which made it worse. Think I will try your advice and try the cpap for a few nights - with ramp. Thanks!Wulfman wrote:Only YOU can know that.....by trying.sleepyred wrote:I have severe GERD, on meds and cannot sleep on my left side without having my GERD symptoms return. Re: Cpap vs apap VS GERD
Depends on whether you need it. If you do need it, I'd recommend starting as near your set pressure as possible.....and for as short of a time as is actually needed to get to sleep.sleepyred wrote:what pressure would you start the ramp on?
