Jerry Garcia, we hardly knew thee...

Post by SuperGeeky » Fri Jan 16, 2009 11:03 pm

Well, I leaned back in my chair, keyboard on my lap, mouse in one hand and Ben and Jerry's Cherrie Garcia in the other. While eating my ice cream, decided to look at Jerry Garcia's listing in Wikipedia.

Well, I glanced at his Biography. Kinda repetitive! Drugs, music awards, more drugs, married, divorced, affairs, kids, more drugs and music awards. Gained weight, lost weight, rehabs and more rehabs.

Poor Jerry got so bad off, he couldn't remember what songs he was playing. He used to turn his electric guitar down way low, so nobody would notice. So, his band members intervened yet again and he went to the Betty Ford Clinic. And then, enlightened, moved on to Serenity Knolls Treatment Center....

He was later discovered in his room, dead from a heart attack. Now, it would be easy to conclude, from years of Drug Abuse, problems with obesity that he would be grateful to be dead. No, no, his band members would be grateful he's dead. No! Grateful Dead! That's it!!

But a little known fact about Jerry Garcia emerges today. A medical condition, back then, few knew anything about! Yes, you guessed it! Jerry Garcia had Sleep Apnea.

And now, you know the rest of the story......

Mmmmmm, next time, Chunky Monkey
