Pricing Encore Viewer

Post by gasparama » Thu Jan 15, 2009 5:11 pm

I'm either going to have to buy a machine with another OS for EP or buy Encore Viewer. Has anyone found a better price than $139? If so, where? If I can't find a significantly lower price, I'll get it from CPAP.com.

As I understand it, I don't think Encore Viewer will install on any operating system that Encore Pro won't install on. What version of Encore Pro are you trying to install on what operating system?

Encore Pro and Encoreviewer both use the same OS, changing programs won't solve that. Jim

Man! I'm glad you guys spoke up before I spent the money. I have a Vista 64 bit and an XP Pro that must have too many SP's installed on it. It is a recently rebuilt machine with very little on it. However, the program easily installed on son's XP laptop which he calls his meat and potatoes machine with as few frills as possible because he often uses it at work and uses it when he's on call. (He usually knows what he's talking about and the only thing different in the 2 machines are the SP's) Anyway, his machine is not always available to me. Guess, I'll get on ebay or craig's list and see if anyone is trying to get rid of an XP laptop to use only for Encore. It drives me crazy when I can't check my info every morning.

Encore Pro and Encore Viewer both will not work on the 64 bit Vista. They both work on the 32 bit Vista machines and XP. Sorry!

You also have to be careful XP also comes in 64bit, and that won't work either. Jim

Did I miss what happened to the machine you were using?

Ok, E P won't install on my 32 bit XP, and we think it's because we installed all the SP's. So my son put it on one of his business XP's and it worked fine. However, he doesn't live with us and can't leave his here all the time due to needing it sometimes with his work. So, I can't check my info as often as possible. Sorry if I wasn't clear earlier. There must be an excuse somewhere!!!

While we're, once again, on the topic of why Jane can't use EP, can I uninstall the last SP?

Service Pack 3 which is the one that seems to be causing the problem can be removed easily. It is listed seperately in the program listing. You can go to the control panel and click on Add or Remove programs and go down the list of programs. When you get to Service pack 3 click on uninstall. I did it on one of my xp computers and it worked fine after that. EP works fine with SP2.

You can get Encore Pro to work on both Vista 64-bit and Windows 7 Beta 64-Bit.

Stuart1, I'm glad you can get Encore Pro to work on Vista 64 because no one else on this board has been able to make it work on the 64 bit drivers. If you know how i'm sure a lot of folks would be grateful it you would tell them how you did it.

Tomorrow, I'll get the Sp3 off and try EP, then. We really don't have a lot of programs installed, so maybe this will get the job done. I'm afraid to add Windows 7 to my Vista machine.

There is a new driver for the DT3500 you can have Vista download from Microsoft when checking for updates. Beyond that, I think I had to fix the name of the MSDE Database at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Respironics\Encore Pro. I'm sorry that I don't remember, if somebody wants to try to get it running and you run into problems, let me know and I will help.

OK you folks with Vista 64, here is your chance. Someone please respond and figure it out so I will know how to do it when my old machine dies. Heck with Circuit City going out maybe I should buy now if they run any "Going Out Of Business Sales".
