My new S8 Escape arrived yesterday. I did NOT handle the first night at all. The exhale stage seems to generate a noise that I could not adjust to.
Is this likely a mask issue? I kept the old mask/pillow system that I was using with my Sullivan V, ie an Adams Circuit with nasal pillows, and tried that with the S8. Does the Swift mask line vent exhaling better?
Any thoughts/tips/tricks/ideas/suggestions etc. really are GREATLY appreciated!!
For last night I simply went right back to my Sullivan V and figured I'd do more research today RE my first attempted use of the S8 Escape last night.

Re: New to the S8 Escape
Hello--I used to have the Escape before I upgraded to the S8 ELITE. You should see if you can get the ELITE instead--it will show you your daily stats in the LCD readout---the Escape will not do that for you. It is still a great machine though!! It was wonderful for me---I think the problem that you are having might be a mask issue and not the machine. What is your pressure? You should add that to your profile --so we can better assist you. I do know that peeps with a higher pressure will have more mask issues. What mask did they give you to use? the Swift LT is a great one--it is a nasal mask that is awesome for sleeping on your sides, which I do.
Are you a side sleeper or sleep on your back? DON'T give up --whatever you do!! LOL!

Re: New to the S8 Escape
Carrie..thanks for taking the time to respond!
I'm an 8 cm, CPAP user for about 15 years. I have a Sullivan V that works fine, but I needed to add humidity to deal with a seasonal sinus issue.
So I evaluated, narrowed it to the Escape and the Elite, and took the El Cheapo route since I'm paying for it myself. Other factors included, (1) my Sullivan doesn't have data capability, nor exhale facilitation, so I figured I could do without those add-ons. I was just looking for an affordable, quality machine, that gave me humidity.
I've always been happy with the Adams Circuit/nasal pillow mask as well, so I'm hoping to stick with that.
I made the mistake of thinking that my first night with the S8 Escape last night would be just hook it up, and go to bed. I'll take a closer look tonight at what may have been causing the annoying noise issue. My mask works fine with my Sullivan V, so I'm hoping it's something else that is 'tweakable'.

Re: New to the S8 Escape
Hi Catleys --Oh since you had to pay out of pocket--you are wise to stick with the cheaper machine--the Escape is very dependable and I have traveled with mine too so it travels well. I still keep mine in the closet for a back up one. Good Luck with your "TWEAKING"---I hope you can find the answer and let us know what you found!!

Re: New to the S8 Escape
It turned out to be a simple rookie mistake, ie operator error. I hadn't snapped the plastic cover down completely over the humidifier 'tank', so on exhale it had a vibration that actually surfaced audibly at the mask, in a VERY annoying way. A good friend who has an S8 Elite luckily had the exact same issue, and pointed me to the problem when he heard the detailed description from me. Issue solved. After 2 nights with the new Escape.......all is well...can't beat it!!! early indication is the best $360 I've ever spent.
