hello: I have had sleep problems for years that has affected my life greatly. A lack of energy and tiredness. I never wake up rested. I am tired of being tired. I do not know anymore what it feels like to be rested. I have recently did a sleep test , the results are below. I did the study in a city of Toronto in canada which is in another province from where i live and I can not go for a follow up. In your opinion do i need a cpap with the results i got??? I want to fix this sleeping disorder? Thank you
REPORT::
EEG:the total recording time of the polysomnogram was 6.6 hours. the total sleep time was 5 hours equating to a reduced efficiency of 76%. the total arousal index was moderately increased at 29 events/hour and the awakening index was elevated 8 event/hour. the latency to sleep onset was normal at 15 mintues, and the latency to consolidated sleep (5 mintues of stage 2 sleep) was normal at 30 mintues. Sleep architecture was marked by increased fragmentation, but all sleep stages were normaly represented.
Respiratory analysis: Snoring was noted to be moderate and continuous. The apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) was mildly elevated at 14.8 events/hour (REM_ index = 20 events/hour) The supine adjusted index was 22 evented/hour, compared to 3 events/hour while sleeping non-supine. the patient slept in the supine position 63% of the time. the patient experienced oxygens desaturations to 85% with 0.2% of the total sleep time spent with an oxygen saturation of less than 90%. The ECG showed a regular rhythm and the rate ranged from 55-76 BPM.
Movement analysis: There was no periodic limb movement.(PLM) observed.
The study showed evidence of mild obstructive apnea associated with continous moderate snoring , some respiratory arousals and mild aterial oxygen desaturation (while supine) . He displayed signification sleep fragmentation but in the absence of other sleep physiologic disturbance.

Re: mild obstructive apnea
yes you do need to be treated... ahi of < 5 is normal... yours is not.
Re: mild obstructive apnea
Absolutely yes in a hurry.ainsle14 wrote:.......... In your opinion do i need a cpap with the results i got??? ...........
Hope to see you back soon with questions about masks, machines, etc.
Good luck,

reduced efficiency of 76%.
the total arousal index was moderately increased at 29 events/hour
awakening index was elevated 8 event/hour.
Sleep architecture was marked by increased fragmentation,
The apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) was mildly elevated at 14.8 events/hour (REM_ index = 20 events/hour)
The supine adjusted index was 22 evented/hour
the patient slept in the supine position 63% of the time.
the patient experienced oxygens desaturations to 85% with 0.2% of the total sleep time spent with an oxygen saturation of less than 90%.
You do badly when you sleep on your back (supine) 22/events hour -- and you sleep a lot like that.
You also do badly when you're dreaming - 20 events/hours.
Yep, you sure do need cpap threrapy.

Re: mild obstructive apnea
And not forget the most important part of your condition ... as it is not just about sleep quality, it is about what desaturated blood oxygen does to you (it slowly kills you).
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.
Re: mild obstructive apnea
Others have told you "yes!". I have to add my vote to that. You do need another study, now that you are diagnosed) to get your titrated pressure (that's the pressure your xpap machine needs to be at to keep your airway open). You should do it as soon as possible. As others have noted - an AHI of 5 or less is considered "treated" sleep apnea. You need treatment! I assume you were referred to a Sleep Specialist or an ENT for your first study. They MAY OR MAY NOT follow up with you.
I am in Ontario Canada as well. I don't know where you will have your titration done. If I can be any help at all just PM me. As you know, each Province in Canada handles their own Health Care so things could be different where you are but I may be able to help some. I know the process in Ontario anyway.
All the folks here (you've had responses from several of us) can help you to go from here so keep coming back and asking anything you want.
People here can help you with machine choices (it's better to go in knowing what you would like - what various machines do and don't do) and just about anything related to sleep apnea.
