Pursleep - My first experience

Post by HelpMeBreath » Wed Jan 07, 2009 8:25 am

Hello,

I have been having major problems with my bipap machine for over a year. Messing with the settings, but still feeling just exhausted the next day. I realised that even though my readings were OK, I will waking up every 15 minutes. This past week I was at the point of collapse. I was seeing spots and patterns, having hot flashes, weak.. I placed an order for a new hose, new filters, a hose cover, cleaner, and pur sleep.

Last night I put the new hose and cover on, and I set up the pur sleep. I usually wear my mask and read a book until I get tired. I turned on the machine and instantly smelled the pursleep oil, it had a slight orange and spice smell to it. I read for about 10 minutes, the smell was great. I turned out the light and closed my eyes. Well, I opened my eyes at 6 am, 30 minutes before the alarm went off. I couldn't remember waking up at all and my eyes actually had gunk in them which they never do. It was obvious that I has finally experienced a real nights sleep. This has happened maybe twice in the past year. I don't know if it was the soft hose cover (I know recently I wake up to the feel of the hose), or the pursleep, but wow, seriously - WOW..

To anyone on the fence about picking up some accessories or pursleep or whatever. Take it from me, you will not regret it. I have had the hardest time getting used to the therapy, I persevere but fountain of youth it is not. The real test will be whether or not I am falling asleep at my desk at 2, but assuming the energy I have right not persists, I think I finally found out what real sleep can do.

I tried the new performance hose and liked it but didn,t know how much I liked it until I changed to clean and dry went back to normal hose I slept one night and whent quickly back to light weight performance hose with my home made fuzzy hose cover. I don,t even feel any drag from the performance hose, I also have my hose hanger {homemade of course} So gald your finding that sweet spot I also have found Pursleep is great I need to get some more after I payday .

i'd be interested to hear suggested scents - i received 5 samples that were basically lavendar based, and i read about how it's the best sort of lavender, etc. but i personally (nor did my wife) care for the lavendar scents - i was thinking vanilla might be soothing (or too sickly sweet) - does anyone have some suggestions of what samples i should request from bret? thanks!!!!!
p.s. no lavendar, lavender, or anything that starts with lav - thanks!

I tried twice to order from PurSleep and was declined. How did you do it?

Congratulations on your fortitude, HMB! Lots of folks have stopped CPAP treatment after a short time due to exactly the situation you described. But you decided to hang in there, keep trying and now, it seems like you've found your "magic combination". Well done!

Kajun

P.S.
And thanks to SleepGuy for a fabulous product.

Send a PM to "SleepGuy" and discuss your problems with him. Might be your server doesn't like their server.

Cheers,
B.

I also like the PurSleep fragrances and find they help me relax at night. The plastic smell from the hose seemed to irritate me and this is a big improvement. I would like to see some improvement in the delivery system because I don't care to have to place a drop of oil on the diffuser every night. Maybe some kind of wick system where you can fill it and forget it for a month or so, then I think they would have a really great product to offer. It's worth a try if you are having trouble sleeping with your PAP.

Hi Gary!

I received 4 samples from "sleepguy". I LOVE "spice", love it love it! "peace" was not for me, "calm" is very pleasant, and "clear" is just ok for me, not quite right somehow.

I prefer spicey, minty, fruity fragrances. The heavier scents are too much for my sniffer to deal with. LOL

I think I'll order a GALLON or so of "spice" (kidding) and some lighter scents. First time I used the "spice", it was a whole new experience with the quattro ff. I'm comfy with the mask, no problems, but aaahhhhh, with that wonderful spicey aroma coming into my mask........sweet dreams were on the way.

I am not a salesman for Pur-sleep, have no connection to sleepguy, except I used to live in Northern Utah LOL.

His variety of fragrances makes it challenging to decide which ones to try, but I'm sure ready to send off an order 'cause my samples are just about gone and of course, I used all the "spice" right away....need more, fast.

Funny that you liked the spice. I went to sleep with it, it was ok. Then I woke up and thought "dentist", then that was it. I had to pull it away. I still have the rest of the sample vial if you want a drop or two. I like the lavender scents, but want to try the vanilla.

Scents didn't do a thing for me except stink up my humidifier and everything. I love the smell of some of them but just don't smell it much when it is "pumped" into the nose and it irritates my allergies. Not for everyone. I prefer the Air Wick heated plug-in and the Vanilla Passion scent with essential oils. Makes the room and house smell like someone is baking. I still don't smell it much through cpap because your brain adjusts to it and you don't really notice it. Last longer, less mess and cheaper. I think the pursleep is overhyped nice guy or not. YMMV

Helpmebreath and others, it is extremely gratifying to me personally to hear your stories. I developed these products based on my personal experience (that was very similar to yours).

The Spice aroma was developed based on studies showing its effectiveness in dental office anxiety. Some people have reported the opposite reaction--the aroma reminds them of the dentist and freaks them out.

In my opinion, anything that helps even some cpap patients use their equipment is a good thing. We need as much help as we can get! Of course, no product could possibly work for everyone. Quite a while back cpap.com started a customer rating system to address this issue. To date, the PurSleep base product has a 4.4 out of 5 rating with 79 reviews and counting. Numerous improvements to the product have been made since the program first started, wtih the intention of addressing customer feedback. The ratings have gone up over time. As the product developer I have found it to be a good system for making improvements (as well as cpaptalk).

Too funny, the one that reminds me of the dentist is "clear".

Thanks for the offer of your sample, but I have my "gallon" of spice plus more on the way. I'm trying samples of dark chocolate (yummmm) and fresh and paradise. Based on the descriptions, my starter pack contains spice, french vanilla and deep. Now, the BIG decision is which one to use first.
