NOT FOR PRINT
I am new to your site and what I propose may not be appropriate for your site but I will give it a whirl. I have been a CPAP user for over 10 years as well as having Periodic Leg movements and know the various things that add to sleeplessness. My theory is this, that regardless of mask fit, pressure, etc., all which are valid, there are other factors involved in non-compliance' that have had little or no coverage as a contributing cause, and that is the hose management. I believe this because many I have spoken to agree that it is also part of the problem contributing to mask leakage, entanglement, excessive hose pull as well as the psychological affects of never knowing if a turn will disrupt your sleep.
With this background in mind, I have developed and have a patent pending on an overhead hose support system that allows the user unfettered in-bed movement along with a greater degree of range of movement out of bed. The details I will omit at this time. I want to conduct a survey among current and past CPAP users to determine the causes hose management may have on non-Compliance and degree each contributes. It will also determine if I am illousional as most inventors are. This will help me to decide the merit of going forward with a very expensive marketing plan for licensing to medical equipment manufacturers.
It is my thought if the results are what I believe them to be. his information, would be useful across the board, to CPAP users, your web site, myself and the manufacturers I will be approaching I have a proposed survey written that asks that 10 questions pertaining to hose management be rated as a condition contributing to non-compliance.
If your company can? And is willing to share an e-mail list of CPAP users, or could lead me to a source for obtaining such information, it would be most appreciated. I would also be willing to share the results of the survey when completed. On the other hand your web site would be an ideal format for conducting such a survey and perhaps you would give this some thought.
I sincerely appreciate your time and comments.

Ernie,
If you can develop a simple overhead hanger (easy to install, hard to knock over) , *and* you can develop a ball swivel joint that connects to different masks that allows the hose to move to any angle above the plain of the face (and not just lateral to the face as most mask swivels are), then you may be able to solve the frustration of 'hose hauling' that we have to put up with.
With my rig, I hang the hose over the bed post & mostly this works but, I am adept at hose wrangling in my sleep
Good luck with your venture
DSM
PS - you can set up a survey here with selectable answers - give it a try

I too am a "hose wrangler".
A flip over the bed post does not complete address the problem of rolling over and the pressure it causes on my mask. In 3 months, I have broken 2 of the same front connecting piece on my Mirage Liberty Mask. If it can address the problem of being able to roll over, without taking the machine with me, without getting tangled or putting undue stress on my mask, at an affordable price .. it would be something to take a look at.

Re: Contributing causes
I'd be interested in this.
I woke up this morning for the first time and noticed I had almost pulled my CPAP machine off the nightstand onto the floor. Its never been moved before. So this kind of stuff is on my mind.

SK,
You can create a poll here easily. Just click Post a New Topic and then click the tab at the bottom of the screen that reads Poll Creation. I am sure that many here will be interested in your product.
If you want to clear it first with site admin, contact the owner by sending an email to johnnygoodman@cpap.com.
BTW, I am one of the users that think it is ridiculous to run the hose overhead. I learned a long time ago to bring the hose under the covers at about navel height and then let it run up to the mask. I can easily roll to either side or back without much difficulty with the hose. This also has advantages of heating the hose with my body heat and should any rainout collect in the hose will take it back into the humidifier instead of into the mask. However there are plenty of people that insist on running it overhead and we are always looking for better products to manage our cpap process.
Good luck with the product,

Re: Contributing causes
There are quite a number of hose hangers (hose management devices) already on the market. I can think of about 5 different ones available off the top of my head. Some are even portable for travelling with cpap equipment.
I have one that works very well. I know that others here have them as well. Several people on the forum have rigged up homemade setups that work very well for them.
I don't know that there is a place in the market for any more hose hangers/management systems.
It's certainly up to you of you want to go ahead with this but didn't know if you are aware of what is already available.
