It would only recognized you as slinky if you it's coming from the same ip. Did you forget your password?UsedSlinky wrote:I'm not recognized as Slinky any more. Sniffle. When I think of all the tries Johnny and I made to find an ID that the forum software would accept ..... *sigh* I haven't tried to re-register. Thought it best to let the kinks get worked out first. Maybe I can still be Slinky.

Hi Trinh,
Nope, came in on same 'puter, same ISP, saw the news item on the PAPWear system, went to make a post and needed to fill in User Name to make the post and that's when it said the Slinky ID was taken. So I just used UsedSlinky as an ID and everything else seems to be working okay. I didn't try to use my password, didn't have to. And, no, I haven't forgotten what my password is. Not after all the fun Johnny and I had back in 2006 getting me registered!!!

Does the username slinky belong to you? if so you can recover it. I will be in the chatting room if anyone need me directly, will be checking the chat windows from time to time.. so response time may be a bit slow.
Re: Help Please! Forum posting problem
Trinh, just so you know, whatever you changed back hasn't fixed everything. I was just involuntarily logged out again and had to log back in.

It may be happening for the 1st time if you have been on the board. It had to reassign the cookie type. Please try again and let me know. Also I can be found in the chat room.
Re: Help Please! Forum posting problem
I understand (imagine that!), but I need to leave now and can't give it a good try. I'll try it later and let you know if I still have problems. Thanks a lot!!TrinhVu wrote:It may be happening for the 1st time if you have been on the board. It had to reassign the cookie type. Please try again and let me know. Re: Help Please! Forum posting problem
Slinks, nothing's wrong with your username. That's just what happens when you get logged out. The place that asks for username on the post itself is asking for a username you want to use as a GUEST. You can't use "slinky" as a guest name, because someone has already REGISTERED that name (the system has no way to know it's you).
Okay, I explained that badly - hope you understand what I'm saying.
Just log in by clicking "Log in" at the upper right corner of the page, instead of trying to write in a guest name on the post itself, and you'll be fine.
ETA: If cookies are fixed now, you should have no more issues.

I am also using FF 3.0.5 but had the cpaptalk cookie set to block. Removing that cookie has helped me to stay logged in.TrinhVu wrote:It may be happening for the 1st time if you have been on the board. It had to reassign the cookie type. How to remove just that cookie -
Go to Tools > Options > Privacy Tab >
in the "Cookies" section I have a check on "Accept Cookies from sites"
(I do NOT accept cookies from 3rd party for ANY reason)
then select "Exception..." look for cpaptalk.com if it is set to "Block" hilite then select "Remove Site"
Refresh or Reload the page - if requested you should accept the cookie from cpaptalk.com this time.

I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

What happened is you got logged out (many of us are suddenly experiencing this, and you were on the guest post screen. You had to enter the code, right? Use the link to log in again, as slinky and you'll be fine. 'Course, you'll probably have to log in each post, I did last night.UsedSlinky wrote:Hi Trinh,

Re: Help Please! Forum posting problem
It wasn't a browser cookie setting thing this time, Gumby. It was a forum thing, that I *think* Trinh has fixed. I seem to be staying logged in now. I double-checked late last night when I was having the issue and my browser WAS set to accept cookies from this site, so that wasn't it. I'm just glad it seems to be fixed! *keeping fingers crossed*
Thanks Trinh.

One of the users is contacting me about this problem, does anyone else have this problem please report to me. Email me at "Trinh.Vu at cpap dot com". I'm trying to dig a solution thus far I could not reproduce this problem.
Here's the description:

I cleared out all cache and cookies, then tried to log in. The forum
site opened, but it got stuck at "(1 item remaining)" on the taskbar
along the bottom. After a while, I tried looking at one of the posts,
and that worked okay. But then I tried selecting Post Reply, and IE 7
crashed. That's what's been happening. It never gets past that "(1 item
remaining)" and then if I try to do anything, IE 7 crashes. I've never
had this problem before with the forum, and have been able to use the
forum with my work computer for many months. Our operating system is
Windows XP Professional.
