I have just received this battery pack and what I think is the required "Shielded DC Power Cord." Very weird that they are sold separately, since one cannot use the battery with the Xpap without this cord.
I have 2 questions before I feel like I am ready for the expected winter power outages:
In the User Guide, in the left column next to Figure 4 (sorry--no page numbers!), what does this mean?
"NOTE: The battery adapter cable accessory, used with the DC Power Adapter, cannot be used with the Portable Battery Pack." Specifically, what is the "battery adapter cable accessory?"
And secondly, I was actually thinking that during an extended power outage, it would be possible to recharge this battery using my car battery and the lighter socket. Not so?

Re: Respironics Battery Pack questions
The battery adapter cable is used to connect a deep cycle 12 volt battery to your machine. It has two batttery clamps to connect to the battery terminals and a cigarette lighter socket. The DC power cord plugs into the cigarette lighter socket on the battery adapter cable. In the case of the respironics battery pack I believe it has a 12v cigarette lighter socket included that you just plug the power cable into. The battery adapter cable is pictured below

Would be helpful if you could scan and post Figure 4 or even the rest of the manual.plr66 wrote:I have just received this battery pack and what I think is the required "Shielded DC Power Cord." My guess is the "battery adapter cable accessory" has alligator clips and a receptacle for the 'cigarette lighter plug' to receive your DC adapter for the machine. Looks like Dale has a pic.
But this is really a guess w/o seeing what you are seeing or even knowing what it is you bought.

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Thanks Dale. Not sure why I didn't see that photo on the cpap.com site.deerhound wrote:The battery adapter cable is used to connect a deep cycle 12 volt battery to your machine. So does that "NOTE" that I copied above, mean that I cannot charge the battery pack from a car battery? (Sorry if this is a dumb question...).
It looks like I would have to sleep in the back seat of my car to be able to use the DC Power Cord with my APAP, if it can be plugged into the car lighter. But I'm not sure if this Power Cord is to be used only for connecting the battery pack to the APAP. Can anyone help me with my confusion?
Maybe the last question on this battery: Can I leave it more or less permanently plugged into a wall outlet to keep it fully charged up until the event of power-outage?

GumbyCT, I don't have a way to scan the manual. And actually, I was just pointing to where that Note was located.....not related to "Figure 4." This is the DC Power Cord.GumbyCT wrote:Would be helpful if you could scan and post Figure 4 or even the rest of the manual.

Here is a thread from the forum that should answer your questions:

I would agree that an inverter plugged into the car cigarette lighter socket would be best way to recharge.

Thanks, Dale. That was exactly the link I needed. And shame on me for not having searched carefully enough to find it!deerhound wrote:Here is a thread from the forum that should answer your questions:

I'm going to guess that it might not be adviseable to leave my battery pack plugged in re-charging on a full-time basis. How often do folks usually re-charge to keep it as full as possible for emergencies?
