I was able to get into this menu on my Resmed Elite II. Where can I find out what all these numbers mean and how to interpret them? I want to take control of my own therapy!Slinky wrote:Try this: press the Left and Right buttons and hold for 3-4 seconds. Hopefully, Efficacy Data will pop up in the LCD screen. From then on in its a matter of Left button to Enter, Right button to Exit, Up button to return to the previous screen, Down button to proceed to the next screen. You can't accidentally or intentionally change your therapy settings from this menu.
If the above button press doesn't bring up the Efficacy Data screen it is because access to it wasn't ordered by your doctor and set by your DME supplier.
If you CAN access the Efficacy Data it will give you the 95th percentile of pressure and leak (at or below which you spent 95% of the night), AI, AHI, and, of course, your compliance data (hours used, number of nights used, etc.)

Okay. Your first time thru your Clinicians Menu write down what pops up on each screen so that if you accidentally change of therapy setting you will know what it is supposed to be and can change it back.
I'm not sure if the S8 IIs have all the same words for their options as the S8s but if you go thru Settings and Options and Advanced Options one of those three menus should have PT Access (On or Off) or SmartData (On or Off) and since you can't access the Efficacy Data menu w/o going thru the Clinicians Menu, the Pt Access or SmartData will be turned to Off. Just change it to On.
AI = apnea index = number of apneas PER HOUR thru the night
HI = hypopnea index = number of hypopnears PER HOUR thru the night
AHI = apnea/hypopnea index = number of apneas AND hypopneas PER HOUR thru the night

O.K. I switched my EPR to on. I read on the posts that the S8 reports on a noon to noon basis and if i check the data after 12:00, i will not see it. Is this true? I will check it in the morning. Slinky, thank's for all the info - you've been very helpfull.

Re: No Resmed software for you!
Still no access.
Wouldn't it make sence that if the S8 Elite II does not offer software to the average user, they wouldn't give access either.
I am not having any luck getting to the information i am looking for. In the user manual, theu show everything except your sleep numbers. I.E. - HI, AI, AHI, Leak, I know the pressure and hours and such but finding the actual nights performance is not giving me any luck. It's beginning to sound like i need the software and the card reader in order to get my numbers. (I just ordered the smart card reader this morning) Anyone here gain access to your HI and AI numbers on the S8 Elite II without the smart card and card reader?

Re: No Resmed software for you!
You don't need software or card reader or card module to access the data from the S8 Elite on the machine itself.
There is a setting in the clinical menu that has to be turned on before the Patient menu will show that info in the LCD the next day.
Here are some instructions that should help, even though they apply to the S8 Elite, not the S8 Elite II:
_______________________________________
ResMed S8 Vantage and Elite clinical menu:
To get into the clinical menu on the machine, press and hold down the "down" of the double-headed up/down arrow button. While pressing the "down" button, also press and hold down the righthand button.
Keep holding both buttons down together. Afte a few seconds you'll see "Clinical Menu Welcome" appear on the screen. Keep holding the buttons down a few more seconds until "Welcome" disappears.
The left side of the screen will now say "Clinical Menu". The right side of screen will say "EXIT."
Press the left button under the word "Menu."
The left side of the screen will now say "Settings Enter."
Press the left button under the word "Enter."
Suggestion: Walk completely through the menu MAKING NO CHANGES the first time through. Have pen and paper handy. As you go through the menu items, write down every word, every number, every symbol you see on the screen. If you make changes later and decide you don't like the change, you'll have your notes of the original settings.
If using the S8 Vantage autopap, the first setting which can be changed appears:
"Mode" (operating mode) with the word "Change" under it.
To see what modes of operation the machine can use, press the LEFT button under the word "Change." Don't worry. No change actually happens or is saved when you press "Change."
The screen will now have the word APPLY on the left side. DO NOT press the left button under the word "Apply.
Use the up/down doubleheaded arrow button to toggle through the changes that could be made to that setting.
If you have been toggling through the possible changes that could be made to a setting, but DON'T want to really make a change, press the RIGHT button under the word EXIT -- even if a setting that's different from your original setting is showing. That takes you out of the "Apply" screen and takes you back to the screen with the word "Change."
As long as you did not press the Left button when you see the word "Apply" on the screen, no changes were made even if you had been using the doubleheaded up/down arrow button to scroll through the possible changes and couldn't remember what the original setting was. It will revert to the original setting no matter what setting is showing on the screen when you exit...unless you have pressed the button under the word "Apply."
If you DO want to make a change to the setting you're looking at and the word APPLY is showing on the screen, press the LEFT button under the word "Apply." The change you just made to that setting is automatically saved and will be used the next time you start the blower.
While looking at any screen that has the word "Change" showing, you can go to the next menu item by using the up/down doubleheaded arrow button. With "Change" showing on the screen, the up/down button works like a browser back/forward button, letting you go either direction through the menu.
To get out of the "Apply" screen without actually making a permanent change in the setting, use the RIGHThand button under the word "EXIT." Exit will take you out of the "Apply" screen, back to the "Change" screen.
When you are looking at any screen that has the word "Change", you can use the up/down arrow button to go backward and forward through the menu. Whenever the word "Change" is on the screen, the up/down arrow button works like a browser backward/forward button.
To exit completely out of the clinical setup menu at any time, press the "Exit" button about four times. Using the Exit button that many times will be sure to get you completely out of the clinical setup menu.

Re: No Resmed software for you!
Neal, have we changed to talking about your fathers machine or still talking about your machine?
IF we are talking about your machine, you have listed the Resmed S8 ESCAPE II. This machine only reports compliance, even thought it has a card slot, you will only get the hours off the machine. The Escape will not give you any AHI/Leak data. If this is infact the machine you are trying to get the data off, you can stop. If your father also has the same machine, than this applies to him as well.
Now, if you have listed the wrong machine, and you DO infact have a Resmed S8 ELITE II, than ignore what I said above.

Re: No Resmed software for you!
Guest,
Thank you, I was talking about my machine. I got confused because the owners manual to my machine said S8 Elite II but looking at the face of my machine, It says S8 Escape II. I will be talking to my DME to return this machine for one that i will be able to track. I am sorry for the confusion.

Re: No Resmed software for you!
What is the difference between the S8 ESCAPE II and the S8 ELITE II ? Is one machine quieter?
Re: No Resmed software for you!
The Escape only reports how many hours you've used it. The Elite will give you AHI and other important data.
