So, it does not matter what I do, I almost always get up around 3 am for an hour or two. I'm not anxious about it. I've learned to go downstairs and read till I get sleepy again (usually an hour or two later). It would, however, be nice to sleep through the night
Any clues?
I do use the bipap (before and after the bout of insomnia), but that does not seem to make a difference.

Re: insomnia-- waking up at 3 am
This is one thing I wish I had the answer to. The exact same thing happens to me, and honestly it is pretty much my only remaining complaint about my sleep quality (after 3 months on APAP therapy). Some days are better than others. Today, for example, I slept all the way through to 5am.
I have a 3-month followup with my somnodoc next week. If he offers anything useful, I'll let you know.

Re: insomnia-- waking up at 3 am
Hi, I have had the same problem, but for the last few weeks I had been sleeping longer-
until my machine started leaking air on the fitting which connects the machine to the hose.
I seem to have stopped that by putting in a new connector part.
Make sure nothing is leaking, your mouth, or your machine.

Re: insomnia-- waking up at 3 am
Thanks.. but nothing is leaking ( I had some problem with the heated hose but the 3 am insomnia pre and post dates that problem). The encore software verifies nothing is leakingMs Piggy wrote:Hi, I have had the same problem, ...

Last time I saw my GP he said he had "something" to help me sleep. As it was probably another pill I declined, but I'm open now. I was a little worried about sleeping with the cpap and a sleeping pill. If something goes wrong, I want to fix it, not be too sleepy to fix it
Re: insomnia-- waking up at 3 am
I can only add my own experience, noticing as long as being on cpap, I have been always trying to get the smallest AHI readings, leakage etc.and with that being the case, after about three solid hours of sleep, I would partially awaken, check the mask for leakage etc, and find myself slowly coming out of slumber and into reality of daily events. Though not one hundred percent, I now try to ignore the concerns of perfect cpap treatment at this hour of the night, put it all in Gods hands, and say it is what it is, and will tackle it in the morning. I do believe it has made a difference for me.georgepds wrote:So, it does not matter what I do, I almost always get up around 3 am for an hour or two. I'm not anxious about it. Not quite sure what you mean, but I get the drift.. there is really little point in worrying about it. I used to worry about being awake enough to work, but , with cpap, I'm OK. My take was worrying would only make it worse. Before cpap I would not even look at the clock for fear of getting all worked up about the hour. now even clock watching does not phase me.Hurricane wrote:...Though not one hundred percent, I now try to ignore the concerns of perfect cpap treatment at this hour of the night, put it all in Gods hands, and say it is what it is, and will tackle it in the morning. I was hoping someone had a similar problem and could say: this miracle pill, or that worthy act cures all
