DSM & Guest,
Both Tridens and myself ordered regular shipping for $6.00 and it got to us in a week. Don't pay the $20. Mine left on the 26th of July and got to me on 8/1. DON'T PAY $20!!!! Tridens got the card, too, in one week.
The mail moves fast if it catches the right flow (according to my mailman when I told him how surprised I was that it got here so fast). You will probably have yours, too, in a week or less.
Let me know when you get it and if you need any help setting it up. It's rather easy when you used the driver from the Encorepro software.
Good luck.

To Tridens
I would love to be an ex-CPAP user, but I will always continue to visit this site. The friends I've made here will always be so important to me that I don't think, even if I am not on the machine anymore, I would stay away. I think that's probably how you feel, too.maybe both of us will be ex-CPAP visitors on this site in the future!
15 lbs. in a month and a half? How on earth did you do that? I was happy with my 8 lbs. in a month. God bless you and keep up the incredible work. Doesn't it feel great to feel great again?
I have a question for you, though, regarding the two softwares, Myencore and Encorepro. Does your data differ in the mornings? I, too, upload the info every morning and I find a difference in how many episodes they reflect. I'm curious if yours does, too. Now I don't know which one is right.
I'm not complainng as this morning was an AHI of 1.3.
I looked at the link you sent about doing a split study and I think I'll try it some weekend. I'm just so afraid to rock the boat. I've become seriously addicted to CPAP (did I just say that???). Sounds unbelievable, but I did. I guess because it has given me the energy to take my life back for the first time in so long that I am afraid to give it up and end up going back to that tired, fatigued zombie I used to be. But I guess if my AHI stays under the normal range, eventually I will have to see if I really need it anymore.
It's funny. That is the day we all wish for and now that it's a possibility that it's here, it's scary and I don't want to face it head on. I guess I need some time to drink it all in.

That's excellent Lori! Effectively that is the same as having a perfect night's sleep. That gives me hope.Sleepless on LI wrote:I'm not complainng as this morning was an AHI of 1.3.
On top of numerous arousals last night I got up at 5:30 with my son to get him to his bus for 6:17. Of course, the bus was late.
I think I'll look like this the rest of the day:
Next year he'll have his driver's license. I think I'll give him a car (one of my Miatas) and tell him to get himself up and out so I can sleep in.

What figures are different? Which graphs are you looking at? I haven't found a discrepancy yet, but I may not be looking in the same place you are.Sleepless on LI wrote:....I have a question for you, though, regarding the two softwares, Myencore and Encorepro. WAF,
Thanks for your support. I am in shock a bit, too, because I didn't think that I was back to "normal," which I definitely put in quotes (if you new me LOL). Anyway, your son is a lucky boy, having a dad ready to give him a Miata. Is he into them? My oldest who just graduated college is into the most expensive things life has to offer. Maybach Benz, Bentley, all the things from the Hip-Hop generation. But at least he got a great job working as a - get this - respiratory therapist!!! He is on his way this morning to the hopt. to take the physical and he starts on the 11th. He was the one who kept pushing me all last year to get a sleep study, bless his pointed little head (I shouldn't say "little" as he's 6'4"). If it weren't for him, I'd still be a walking zombie. And LOL regarding what you'll look like all day ( ).
And Neversleeps, I will go back to my reports later this afternoon and give you exactly which data differs. I have to go to work and I'm not even remotely ready to leave. But maybe I'm reading it wrong? I would really appreciate your help. You must be on the two much longer than me (probably everyone on this site must be). Thanks!
Have a great day to you all.

Myencore said I had 10 total OAs episodes last night and two Total Hypops, with an AHI of 1.5. The Encorepro said I had no hypops and two OAs. What's up with that??? Is there a way to see a chart in Myencore that shows when the episodes happened like in Encorepro? I err'd in my last post that I had a 1.3 AHI. It's a 1.5 AHI in both softwares, but the statistics greatly differ. 10 versus 2 OAs???
Thanks for your help.

Oh yes, even before I bought my first Miata he had decided that that was the car for him. He insists on stick shift too! (Seems I've raised him well. )Sleepless on LI wrote:Anyway, your son is a lucky boy, having a dad ready to give him a Miata. Is he into them?
Miata has a lot of advantages as a teen's 1st car: not so much power that they are encouraged to get crazy, nimble to avoid problems, and it naturally limits the number of friends they can invite along. They're also reasonably safe, fairly cheap to run and surprisingly easy to work on.
Sounds like you've got a pretty good son also.
And maybe I can take a nap when I get home this evening so I'm not a bear for my family. Grrrr!

Frostman, I can only speak from the little experience with card readers that I have, but I was told by someone on this site that DOES have knowledge that this is the card reader that is made for Respironics. It just needs an updated driver, which is included in your software. IT WORKS!!!! And if you can save yourself $76 on the package, why not??? I did and I'm using it every day with no problem.
WAF, yes, I do have a great son, too. I do have two others, one who is 19 and is going to college for his degree in Criminal Justice-Law Enforcement, who wants to be a police officer (after I talked him out of the Marines) and a 12-year-old daughter who is getting into modeling right now since, at 12, she's 5'7", 105 lbs., and, IMHO, rather pretty , or so I've been told...do we ever really see our kids as they are being their parents? I doubt it. So I have been blessed in that dept.
A waitress in the diner in my home town once told me never to say you're blessed with great kids. She said it is not a blessing. It is as a result of all the hard work and energy the parents put into raising them. The blessing is that they were born healthy. I love that and will subscribe to it. Sounds like you done good, too. Now, off to work...
Enjoy your nap .

I said no probelm. They e-mailed me back with the paypal invoice which I paid. So be patient-they are working on their web site I guess. Since I already have a reader and want this as a backup I can wait. I also ordered the slide reader which I ASSUME is the correct one right?
Good $6 it is
Re which reader, yes the slide reader. The other one (shelf reader) is for use with the new HK id card. My last job in HK was with the company (PCCW - formerly CWHKT) that got the contract to introduce the new HKID and it is that same form factor as the Respironics reader.
The new id card carries biometric data that can identify the holder. It is an excellent concept of an id card but will not appeal to anyone who fears 'big brother' and there are a few who do (and probably for good reason)
Anyway thanks all for sorting out the postage issue.

Lori,
Re: the differing data, I'll have to look at this...I guess I haven't looked that carefully yet.
Re: losing the weight, I've drastically changed my eating habits. Smaller portion sizes, I now eat breakfast (didn't before), don't snack between meals, don't snack/eat at night (a BIG change for me as I'm a major night owl), and I'm eating low-fat and balanced diet. I know they say a healthy maintainable loss rate is 1-2 lbs/week, and that I'm well beyond that. I don't intend to keep this pace up...I just wanted a jump start to motivate me.
I also allow myself one day a week of "eat whatever you want." It does several things for me: 1) It's a reward 2) It keeps me from falling off the wagon 3) I think my eating habits will be more sustainable if I allow myself the occasional splurge.
Ironically, I find that, even though I enjoy myself on these days, I don't go out of control. In fact, my splurge day has been more healthy than my typical diet was before I started my weight loss program.
I'm also not exercising (at this point). I felt that trying to start both at the same time would have resulted in failure for me (too much change all at once). I also figured dropping calories and increasing exercise might cause my metabolism to slow down and work against keeping weight off long-term (I can hear my body now: "What is going on here?! No Burger King is bad enough...what the heck is this NordicTrac thing?!
I'll be adding exercise starting next week, starting with weight training, and I'll add cardiovascular shortly thereafter, and then go into a maintenance mode of alternating cardio and strength.
Anyway, that's my plan for right now.
6' 1" and 180, here I come!

As far as your weight loss, you bastard !!! You're doing this, too, without exercise? Could you imagine what you'd be losing if you did??? I used to be able to lose without exercise, but there were two things about that. One, I was younger and my metabolism was still running wild. Two, it really is not helping your cardiovascular system, but just helping to lose weight and look better. I felt it was time to do things to make myself healthier...not that losing weight alone is not a healthy thing. I hope you understand what I mean. I need both at 48. I've been told, and I am so grateful, that I don't look like I'm in my forties yet, and I am so thankful for that. But I think weight can make you look older than you are. And when I was so exhausted before therapy, and I had the bags and circles under my eyes, fagedaboutit.
Anyway, what you're doing eating wise and what I'm doing are almost identical. No snacks, not eating at night (maybe a piece of fruit IF ANYTHING OCCASSIONALLY), nothing fried, only grilled chicken and fish, no red meats, plenty of vegies and water, water, water. I've stopped all drinks other than that, so with it went the caffeine and the processed sugars. I am thinking of maybe eating five small meals a day as they say that helps to keep the motor running and burning off fat all day. Or maybe just carry around a bag of either cucumber slices or raw broccoli, which I love.
Anyhow, keep up the fantastic work. You are going to reach that goal and start to feel so healthy, you'll want to exercise then. I give you a tremendous amount of respect because I know how hard it is to do. I think men, though, are known to take it off a lot quicker than women. Yet another one of the lovely crosses we women have to carry. And I'm sure you're a lot younger than me and that helps. Hey, I have to rationalize why you've lost double what I have and I'm exercising and being a saint!!!!
Keep me posted on your continuing success.
(CAME BACK AND RE-EDITED TO ADD THIS):
PS: DUH!!! I FIGURED IT OUT. The Encorepro I was reading shows how many EVENTS under each pressure column, not how long they lasted. When I'd look, for example, 2 under 10 cm, I thought it was a 2-sec. episode. It meant 2 invididual episodes for that pressure that night!!! What a maroon.... mystery solved!!!
I think I figured out the reasoning. When I look at Encorepro, it shows under each pressure the times of the events cumulatively, but doesn't say how many events happened in each pressure per night, so I was taking it as one per column. When I look at the Myencore, it says how many individual episodes you had. Am I onto something here? I don't know.Re: the differing data, I'll have to look at this...I guess I haven't looked that carefully yet.
