Here ya go, chrisp!

Quite a few people are reporting success (verified by full PSG's) with the TAP II. For some, the TAP II alone is enough -- others are combining the Pillar Procedure with it. You don't just pop the TAP in and have sweet dreams. It seems it takes a certain period of time with tiny increases in the adjustment before you're finally "there".

Pillar Procedure and TAP Dental Device: Topics containing PaulY and Sleepy Stoboy's excellent posts about the Pillar Procedure (3 small inserts placed in the soft palate) and the TAP dental device ("Thornton Adjustable Positioner", a removable device worn in mouth while sleeping to hold lower jaw forward and open the airway more.)

Tap dancing

Post by dsm » Fri Jul 15, 2005 6:07 am

Interesting topic & a very logical direction.

Read some of the comments re TAP 1 & TAP 2

My conclusion ...

will wait until the tap dancing slows down just a bit more

Since there is a whole lot more to OSA than a loose palate or floppy tongue I will reserve judgement on either and/or both until a few years have passed where there is some followup data on patients who have had one or both. I'm thinking that the results will not be any better than those who have had the other surgeries.
