Insurance reimbursement for Pillar starting to happen

Post by meister » Thu Jun 30, 2005 3:55 pm

As you might know, the Pillar Procedure has been recently approved for the treatment of Sleep Apnea. The company, Restore Medical, is currently going through the process of establishing coverage and reimbursement with insurance carriers. This process is just getting started and is a lengthy one. Most insurance carriers will cover some specific procedures for the treatment of Sleep Apnea, however, they may or may not include Pillar as one of those specific procedures yet.

It is still possible that your insurance company may cover the Pillar procedure
on a case by case basis. Suggest that your doctor submit a Pre-Authorization to them to determine if the procedure is covered. Restore Medical has prepared a Physician Guide to Reimbursement to help physician offices with the pre-authorization process. Restore Medical is more than willing to make this guide available to your physician or his office staff, and discuss it with them.
