New To Cpap's...Need Advice
Re: New To Cpap's...Need Advice
Well, I never heard back from the DME, even after I left numerous messages, my call was not returned. They are "scheduled" to come tomorrow and swap out the machine...well they can take the Tango but I want nothing from them!
Funny thing is that I received a call from my pulmonologist's office for my follow up visit for tomorrow, I told them to cancel it since I have not used the cpap that long.....I asked the girl about c-flex, she told me it was a mask!! ..of course my cpaptalk friends have educated me well enough already.
I guess, I'll be calling the DME tomorrow..Again. I will have them pick up the Resmed Tango and I'll look somewhere else...
Anybody live in South Florida that can recommend a good DME(has to take humana)....I'm determined to get my machine!!

Re: New To Cpap's...Need Advice
bye bye Tango!
got to their office 30 minutes before closing, the customer serv. director didn't look to happy when she saw me...She kept tell me that in order for Humana to pay, I need a special authorization code(E1399), she said that it's a "miscallenous code" the amount of $850 for the s8 elite II and I have to get the authorization from my Primary care physician!
They said if I can get that authorization...the machine is mine....I'm trying another DME.

I would not rule that out as a total failure .. I had to get an updated prescription that specified that machine to get my upgrade .. hang in there .. AuntieNae

Re: New To Cpap's...Need Advice
Well, 1st failure was choosing my pcp...I had this sleep apnea test done in October and was told by my pulmonologist to have the pcp take care of ordering the machine, etc.AuntieNae wrote:I would not rule that out as a total failure .. My PcP office, sat their butts on it for a month and did nothing, so I took it upon myself to order the cpap. I could have probably been enjoying my new cpap for about a month already.
If I need to get a special authorization from my pcp....I will NEVER see a cpap in my life!
I tried Humana's website to get participating DME's in my area, mostly don't exist anymore and some no longer take Humana...Is it ok I try online ordering? Which company?
Re: New To Cpap's...Need Advice
sorry to hear about your insurance/doc troubles. can be very frustrating!
cpap.com are the hosts of this forum, and they are pretty great to deal with. You can always call them up to find out what price they can offer you (as opposed to the suggested retail price they have to advertise), and I believe they will also match a price if you find it lower elsewhere. They also have the widest selection i've seen online.

Re: New To Cpap's...Need Advice
What is code E1399, the dme said it's a miscallaneous code? Is the code used for ordering a CPAP machine?
Why would the dme be using this code? wouldn't it be code E0601 for cpap and/or with humidifier code E0562?
Have I been doing my homework or what?? lol

Re: New To Cpap's...Need Advice
I think it's a bogus code. I'd call your insurance company and ask them how it comes up in their system.... Good work on the codes.DisneyFan wrote:What is code E1399, the dme said it's a miscallaneous code? Is the code used for ordering a CPAP machine?

Re: New To Cpap's...Need Advice
I slept with my mouth open prior to CPAP now I sleep with a closed mouth all the time I use a nasel mask and find it more comfortable for me than a nasal pillow product,. At the time of my sleep study the therapist informed me that frequently mouth breathers will no longer sleep with their mouths open as their apena is controlled and the body no longer is in panic mode to breath. This has been true for me I chringe to think if I ever had to go back to the old miserable pre CPAP days.Stick to your guns and get that machine with c-flex it can make your experience soooo good I also find I can set my humidifier at 2or3 the first few nights on CPAP I had it set on passover and woke up in the nightg with a stuffy nose I adjusted my humidifier and stuffy nose resolved . I started CPAP August of this yeay and feel 10-15 years younger at hhis time ,my hubby thinks so to.
P.S. also registered as imsleepynomore but could' stay registered from registration point to the panel.

Since this document doesn't include the possibly bogus code, I don't see how it's helpful.....Guest wrote:..http://reimbursement.respironics.com/FeeSchedules.asp

Re: New To Cpap's...Need Advice
I think I'm giving up on ever getting the cpap..I have called every dme on my insurance(humana) website and almost all the ones that are near my area are no longer taking this insurance...they really need to update their information.
The only one that will work with Humana is the company usinng code E1399.
I have one company whom I just faxed all the information, I'm crossing my fingers on this one. If it doesn't work out. I guess I'm out of a machine. billmyhealthinsurance.com told me they were out of network.
I have Humana now but beginning January I will have Aetna...I just want to start sleeping comfortable and get at least one night of 8 hours sleep

Re: New To Cpap's...Need Advice
Dang it, DF! This is a bummer. Will Humana reimburse you (less copays and deductibles, of course) if you buy from an online source like CPAP.com?
Hang in there, DF. You'll get it figured out.

Re: New To Cpap's...Need Advice
Would it be possible for you to get a rental machine for a month, and then work through Aetna to get your own machine? So far, they have been pretty decent to me, although they do work with Apria, which many people in this Forum dislike. I was fortunate to get an RT who knew what she was doing, since I had only just found this Forum and was working really hard at bringing myself up to speed.DisneyFan wrote:I have Humana now but beginning January I will have Aetna...I just want to start sleeping comfortable and get at least one night of 8 hours sleep
Of course <wry grin> we'd met our deductibles up one side and down the other with my cancer surgery, so I may change my mind when we roll into the new year!
