Newbie needs help interpreting results

Post by georgepds » Sun Nov 30, 2008 10:07 am

I used the software to capture last night's data on my machine (used 9 hours)
IPAP 11, EPAP 7
Indices: OA 0.8, H 4.3, VS 123.5
Large Leak: 0min, 0%, Average Leak: 32.93

Can someone help interpret the results. I realize zero Apnea is best, but is OA of 0.8 a reasonable result (6 events). How about the Hypopnea (4.3) (many events). It seems to me the snoring (123.5) is out of control (very many events, but long periods of no snoring at all). I don't have a website, so if someone knows a place to post the pdf, please let me know

The second question is what to do about it. There do not seem to be any controls on the machine other than ramp pressure.

You're numbers look good to me; don't see your AHI, but I think it would be under 5 based on the other numbers, and anything under 5 is considered good therapy. Photobucket.com provides a place to store your pics and pdf files for free.

Is there a clinician's manual available for this machine? According to the specs, it seems to have more modes of operation than I can access on the panel. I'd like to reduce the level of hypopnea by adjusting the settings/mode and just do not see how to do it.

TIA

Ah... found it , the AHI is 5.1, close enough to 5 I guess.

If the image here is correct (1), I could lower both apnea and snoring by increasing the Epap.Hypopnea could be handled by higher Ipap. That or I could go to auto Bipap, and more closely follow the advice given to Izzyb here(2)
