High pressure nasal irritation

Post by Zoot » Fri Nov 28, 2008 3:46 am

The nasal pillow works best for me because of mask issues. However the pressure really irritates my nasal passages.(BiPap In=16 Ex=12) If only the air was not as "sharp." I am on HH and it helps some. Is there something that won't cause congestion like a nasal spray or maybe a little bit of something to add to the HH like vapor or something? Just to condition air some?

Have you tried Ayr Saline Nasal Gel? I had to use it until my nasal passages "toughened up".

I've never been even close to that pressure - but FWIW:
When the air from my machine has the right warmth and humidity, it is no longer irritating.
I add those by using a heated hose, a heated humidifier and hose covers for both the main hose and the mask's narrower tube.

Saline nasal rinses http://www.neilmed.com also help.

I am on bipap 18/15 and find the nose to be an outstanding regulator and only lets in what it needs.

I use the Headrest.
