I agree with SAG. Hose clamp is best.
I have a Aussie heated hose and the ends got too floppy after I had used it about a year and a half. I hose-clamped a quick disconnect fitting from cpap.com onto the end of the hose. Works great.
Temporary Repair/Fix
Re: Temporary Repair/Fix
I hadn't thought of plumber's teflon tape (though I have some here), but I was thinking of gaffer tape. It's strong, but it rarely leaves a residue.
I use small strips of gaffer tape on my guitar picks to keep them from slipping out of my hand--it's not slick like duct tape.
Anyway, I imagine a quarter-inch strip of gaffer tape around the plastic connector would keep the hose from slipping off.
Then again, most folks probably don't have gaffer tape in their home. But it sure is handy to have around.

Re: Temporary Repair/Fix
Thanks all. I tried the duct tape on to the elbow and it worked for most of the night. I was surprised when it blew off!
I did previously try the switch the ends thing a couple of nights previous, and that should have been my clue to get a new hose. I thought of the clamp idea as well, but being later at night I could not obtain one so easily, plus I was afraid of tightening to much and cracking the plastic.
I ended up buying a $50 Cdn hose from my DME!!!
And now for the rest of the story.............I just had the night earlier put in an order with CPAP.com for a replacement mask excluding the frame (Resmed Activa) for $38.00 and decided against buying the $19.00 US hose because it would take 1-2 weeks to get to Canada! I should have ordered two hoses for that price, even at the current exchange rate it would have been almost equal.
I wonder if I called CPAP.com and if the order hasn't been shipped do you think they might add to my order so I can save the shipping charge? Boy oh boy, and I was debating if I should order the hose and keep trying to maintain this old one. Hmmm at the cost maybe I would have been better off putting up with the old one until the new one came in.

Once I find work again I intend to get a backup machine, but that's the only spare I lack!!!! I always figure if it plugs into the wall, or has those little black things with silver legs, it's gonna fail.....inevitable -- only a matter of time!!!
Your so called "interpretation skills" also leave a lot to be desired and IMHO it's indicative of paranoid ignorance, and lack of tolerance of alternative viewpoints.....That's not what this forum is all about.....
So shut up!!
Good lord, what brought that on??
Getting old doesn't make you 'forgetful'. Having too damn many things to remember makes you 'forgetful'.
Re: Temporary Repair/Fix
I love the hose clamp idea; have to remember that. I use the Aussie heated hose, and since it's about 1-1/2 years old, I'm thinking I should get a spare one of those. Although I do have plenty of regular hose for backup, if need be. I used black electrical tape one time on the plastic connector that goes between the Hybrid and the hose (until I was able to find another one in the closet!), and that worked well. It's kinda stretchy which I think helps get it tight when you wrap it. (Before using the tape, the connector was working okay on the hose end, but kept slipping off where it connects to the mask.)

Innomed Hybrid Mask
Re: Temporary Repair/Fix
The night that fredman posted or the next night, I took apart my Liberty. I was looking at adding another small hose to cut back on the total length of the circuit (use 6 ft not 10 ft hose then add one a couple short ones). So I got out the hose I had used with the CL2 and somehow that one ended up on the Liberty. Well it slipped off the Liberty Elbow 3 times that night and then again once last night (I had used another mask for the nights in between).
I guess I got to try this fix myself or put the Liberty hose back on the mask. I might try cable ties first as they are less bulky. However I do have a hose clamp I can use that was left in the driveway after the guys put in the new dishwasher.
I will see when I break down and try the fix.

Also, there's different sizes, get the right one so there's not a lot of extra band hanging out:WearyOne wrote:I love the hose clamp idea; have to remember that.

These guys are about a buck, and stainless steel so they won't rust if they get wet.
SAG

Aromatherapy may help CPAP compliance. Lavender, Mandarin, Chamomile, and Sweet Marjoram aid in relaxation and sleep. Nature's Gift has these and a blend of all four called SleepEase.
Re: Temporary Repair/Fix
Last night I used one thin cable tie on my hose - no problem - not sure if there would have been but nice cheap, non-bulky fix with very little extra sticking out.
I took the hose clamp I had from the dishwasher line and put it by the bed last night but that looks awful bulky - it was the only one I had that might be small enough as I think the one for the dryer vent is way too big.
